Decent prospect, had trials at Man U a few years back when at York-at that stage it was thought he'd go all the way to the top, although he didn't make it in his first step-up into the league. He's on fire this season though by all accounts-a bit of time being coached in the league has helped, and he's young enough to come again.

On a similar note..anyone else got massively huge regret that we didn't snap up Madine for peanuts when we had the chance? I think we quibbled over 50k from what I recall. He looks fantastic now, strong, superb in the air, and banging the goals in.Another AT spot.

I guess we are in a similar situation to then..the most we can afford on loan is a lower-league player.

Yes, I thought we should have signed Madine. I thought he looked useful and in his very few and short appearances looked to have the knack of getting into goal scoring positions. He then went back to Carlisle and started banging them in and got his move to Wednesday.

On what I've seen of him over the past 2 seasons, I beg to differ. He looks very similar to Lukas in quality right now, only a natural goal-scorer to boot. Bear in mind Newcastle were sniffing around him a few years back too. I think he'll play in the Premiership within 2 years.

Good calls ,Henderson proved they're there ,wages for Macheda could be on the high side ,might find his way back in with injuries @UTD but has dropped well down the order, has he had any loans in England before:thinking about:

I think while Spuds are in the cups and Europe not many will go out on loan. Agree with Wingy that he's wages could prove a stumbling block as I'm sure he had signed a new long term contract within the last couple of years.
Surely Arsenal ressies/youth would be the ones we should be going after

Madine was scouted over a number of years by a number of clubs. He was a prolific goalscorer at youth levels and several clubs are known to have watched him.
For some reason, those clubs were never prepared to commit to a deal. It may be that his ungainly appearance never fully convinced scouts. He does have a poor off the pitch reputation, which may also have deterred buyers

I'm pretty sure that was the problem, as he was incredibly prolific at youth level. Even Abbott lost patience with him at one stage, and he'd been his youth coach who'd brought him up through the ranks.

Adam Boyes is not good enough for us. What makes me say this you may wonder. I live near Barrow and know lots of Barrow fans :D They have been trying to get me to support Barrow for ages

there are hundreds of these types of players out there, we could have a punt on many but they would not work out. Madine was average for us and has found his league and is doing well, fair play to him.
