Henderson, Tudguy and Armstrong
Or Armstrong playing just behind them work

Armstrong has to be our most forward, centrally playing player.

Not out wide or behind anyone.

If we get that clear chance he needs to be the player that it falls too.

Sorry I never meant to put him out wide on my original post I was just putting the names in

We definitely need to change it up a bit, but a front 3 of those players would leave us very light in midfield. For me Henderson should be plan B only. I'd like to see a front two of tudguy and Armstrong though.

if we played Henderson we could actually start crossing the ball again

Then if he is alongside a Henderson type, it might create more chances for Armstrong.

I think that would work, obviously have to adjust midfield but Henderson battering their defence to unsettle them and Tudgay/Armstrong having some hopefully rich pickings...but I don't think TM would be brave enough to play all 3

I'd give Tudgay a go alongside Henderson and have Armstrong on the bench. Armstrong's looked a bit lost when he'd had another striker up front with him from what I've seen, understandable though, as he's always on his own up there.

Armstrong still looked our best goal threat on Saturday. In fact, our only goal threat.

I would love to see Henderson and Armstrong, in a big target man, little fella to feed off him, partnership.

We have to remember, we need to change the system, cos it's clearly not working. A target man/zippy striker alongside, is something we clearly haven't tried.

And anyway, as has already been mooted, Tudgay surely must be injured. He went from playing Tuesday, to not even being in the squad Saturday.

That therefore leaves MAF or Henderson.

All 3 might be overkill, leaves too little in midfield.
But henderson alongside Arma could work. We have Cole to deliver quality from free kicks and corners now, and Henderson will get his head to them. A target man for the defense or anyone else to deliver to from further back and Arma to run in off him. TM needs to take a risk and change his set up to accommodate the 2 upfront in my eyes.

I just don't understand why TM brought in Henderson because he is not using him for some strange reason

I really think it's time to change the system a bit and part of this is go 2 up top. Armstrong is clearly our man who's the most likely to score so he has to start. For me I'd play him along side Henderson. I like tudgay but I think Henderson would be better at the role of a target man.
Take Saturday AA was trying his hardest win balls against a big physical cb with little joy. Imagine how much help he could get and also benefit from playing next to Henderson. He can do the physical stuff and flick headers, knock downs for AA to burst on to. This would add a bit of much needed punch to our forward line.

Worth a try ,in the position we are in

Henderson and Arma up top.
A midfield consisting of Fleck - Rose - Vincelot - Cole.
Crosses and long diagonals.

Henderson last scored a goal on 11 March 2014. He was released in Jan by Scunthorpe after signing in the summer and only playing a bit part for them. Mowbray hasn't really used him since he did sign.

Tudguys scored 4 this season, which isn't bad since bad given the lack of football he's played this season.

I get the feeling the idea of Henderson is better than the reality of Henderson. He was a good player but is old now. We have to try something different, but tudguy has to be given first dibs.

I'd be choosing Henderson for his size and experience not his previous goal scoring records. I doubt he'll score many for us if any but I feel he could feed AA better than what tudguy may do. Tudgay is good at dropping and liking up play well but this for me still leaves AA stranded again. Got to play close to Henderson who would stretch there back line for AA to exploit.

But if we brought Henderson into the starting line up it wouldn't be to score goals would it? Same as with Fortune when we brought him in.

What we are looking for is for a foil for Armstrong and a provider for Armstrong to score the goals he is quite clearly capable of.

Yeah, I get the rational for bringing in Henderson, I know it's for a foil for Armstrong and not for goals. I just don't think it will work in particular and should be left to plan b.

Is that because it's safe as a plan b, as TM won't ever use it as we will stick to plan a regardless of performance or score.

No, I've said 2-3 times we should go 2 up top, but I would go tudguy and Armstrong.

Plan A no longer works regardless of personnel as opposition teams have worked it out. Time for Plan B to become the new plan A I say.
As for Henderson, give him some decent service and he will score goals.

You know you've just described Kevin Kyle, lol

We have not played two up top all season.....if in the unlikely event we do it has to be Tudguy and Armstrong.

Henderson is a long way past his best not fit to lace Tudguys boots currently maybe five seasons ago.

Tudguy is better in the air than Henderson has a much better leap
Has a better touch by far
Is technically far superior
Is quicker

If we play a 2 Tudguy needs to be given a chance....Henderson for me is an impact/desperation sub for half an hour when either
we are really struggling and so give long ball a crack.....or like at Southend bring him on after Tudguy has been battered to crap!
With Stupot on Tudguy & Armstrong front two all the way!

Not sure

Tudgay isn't awful but just a very average league 1 player now. He's not good enough for us to achieve our ambitions, not saying Henderson is good enough but I haven't seen enough of Henderson to pass judgement on him either way. So on that basis I'd like to see Henderson before Tudgay as we know what Tudgay can do and it isn't good enough imo. If Henderson is no better than Tudgay we may as well stick with Arma up top by himself and sort out the attacking midfielders behind him.

Tudgay is 5'9". Henderson is 6'4". Same age more or less. I'd go with Henderson and Armstrong. Tudgay is better as a sub anyway.
