Although I'm sure they would like the legal action stopped (they aren't being sued, they are only an interested party), IMO, they are using it as a convenient excuse (as fans will buy it and hold sisu responsible letting them get off Scott free), to delay talks until thr last minute and put the club in a position where it has no choice but to agree a longer term deal on significantly worse terms (and tied into stadium sponsorship). This isn't about legal noise IMO, this is about wasps trying to get as much £££ as possible.

I believe that if they let the deal run out, the political pressure and general ill feeling towards wasps, will push them to agree another short term deal. I think the bid for city of culture has an impact on this....doesn't look good if the bid 'flag ship business' kicks out the cities historic football club. Add to that that whilst £400k+ money in is only a small % of wasps turnover, every penny counts . also I would expect as much as the CT rightly despises sisu, they will be very vocal against wasps if they kick us out....not going to go down well with prospective sponsors.

Just hope they get the balance right in respect of understanding what we can afford unlike CCC/ACL who miscalculated by insisting the rent stayed at Championship/PL rates.

Personally I think as an interested party you have to put just as much time effort and more importantly money into it as a claimant.
Also highly unlikely but a possible remedy available to a judge is to reverse the illegal decision that was taken by the public authority.
Wasps have something that the person that is causing that risk to their business wants.

So I don't buy that they are waiting for the legal distraction to go. I think it is a straight blackmail in order to protect their business.

I am not so sure Wasps will negotiate, the tiny revenue we give them verses mitigating the cost and risk of the legal action. I think they will hold their nerve.

Also regarding the good will of the public. Most the fans have had enough of SISU taking what they see to be pointless legal action. They also realise the club itself won't benefit from the legal action.

So when Wasps say they will talk once the legal action is out of the way the pressure will fall on SISU to drop it.

Which they won't and I think we will end up playing somewhere poxy, in front of 500 fans. Whilst awaiting SISU to slowly lose JR2 and implinent their plan for minimising the damage of crystalising their losses. 2 years I guess.

For me knowing that next season would be the last season in Coventry would work the other way for me Otis. They would have made the decision to move away long term and as such the Coventry club I know and support would cease now not in a years time

As for the short term deal at the Ricoh, the club is on public record including in successive sets of signed audited & filed financial statements as saying they have other plans to being at the Ricoh, that they don't want to be there. I see no reason for Wasps to be in a hurry to complete a short term rental deal, and further I see no reason why in those circumstances why they would give up the access to other income streams to CCFC. Any short term deal will be on Wasps terms because of the public attitude and stance taken by the owners and directors of CCFC - frankly they have badly messed up any potential negotiation for the benefit of CCFC at the Ricoh. It is clear from the Wasps financials that the Ricoh doesn't rely on CCFC any more. The "legal noise" is convenient but to be honest do either side need to agree any sort of deal yet? or for a year or so? The next pressure point is being able to sign off the 2017 financials which need to prove the ability to play/trade somewhere past February 2019.

Why is the panic being stirred up in the press about the club leaving now? to what end ? there is plenty of time to do a deal at the Ricoh. Is it an attempt at additional pressure for SISU to drop the JR2 - if so I doubt it will work

I think it would definitely effect my thinking. I have pretty much said I think I probably will renew again next season, but I most definitely would if I thought this was our last season in the city and faced the prospect of a far away groundshare.

I think people & press are reading too much in to it. It is a negotiating position by Wasps nothing more imo. It puts pressure on Fisher & SISU to make a decision, come up with the plan they want. Until they do Wasps have other things to be getting on with - so Wasps have parked things to avoid wasted time and effort. I refuse to get panicked by it with so long left before August 2018.

The legal action costs them money, time and actually also threatens their business, if by some freak chance SISU win.

If SISU stop the legal action and put in a PR savvy negotiating team there's a chance of a decent deal for the club. The last thing Wasps need is bad PR and CCFC's team could exploit this.
