Would you start Leon on Friday? (1 Viewer)

Bear with me...I know it might not do his confidence the world of good but if we wanted to stop fresh bids for him, would it be better to start on the bench? If he starts, plays a blinder, gets himself one or two, then we're going to attract more bids.

If he starts on the bench, comes on and only does ok, maybe that might put some off?

Just a boring Wednesday morning thought.

He has to play
1) if he does well he might be persuaded that staying with us is his best option - dropping him to the bench is hardly likely to do that.
2) if he's going to leave we need to inflate not deflate the price
3) from a football point of view we can't afford not to play him anyway.

Nah, I think if clubs want him they'll bid either way. I can see where you're coming from but if he wants out we may as well play him and try and get the biggest bid going. I know people are saying about there's been no more bids for him but this is the transfer window, it'll all happen on the 30th and 31st.

We have to play him,why risk upsetting him for the important league match's ahead. This cup match is just
an interruption from the task of earning promotion.

play him from the start - he is probably going to go regardless and who knows he may score and give us something to cheer - to leave him on the bench to stop possible bids would be madness. if thats in SP's thoughts he might aswell leave Moose, daniels, baker, christie, etc on the bench too. _ come to think of it I'll bring me boots!!!

People won't bid off one game. Most teams in League 1 Championship will know all about Leon Clarke already......so just play him.

your playing arsenal... at the emirates... in a professional sport... you play your best team!

unless someone has done something really stupid which would bring the club into disrepute, then you could justify not playing someon... but simply asking for a transfer is nothing unusual in football these days. and half the time it all goes away. its just business & people looking to better themselves in life.. and football is the business. if he is still here and putting in 100% then he should play

Err people will bid for him because he's the leagues top scorer ... as for this Friday and play / not play ... that's obvious ... he HAS to play if fit.

if he doesn't play and ends up staying won't he be pissed and less likely to perform well for the rest of the season?

we are playing the best team in england right now statistically.

of course we must play our best striker statistically.

Leon will start on Friday because he will be our main attacking outlet for the match. As Pressley stated yesterday to CT he plans to start Leon as he can't see anyone else coming to grips with the organisation of our system.

While he is at the club and we do not have a replacement, he has to play. Simple as that.

Depends what the club want this year.

If we want promotion we need to carry on as normal and he should play.
We need to improve the squad and not sell our best players.

If he goes then this season is over and next season we will not challenge for promotion as the FP rules switch in based on this seasons income.

If the club are happy with this league then he will go.

They don't allow those old leather boots with steel toe caps anymore.

Still a Coventry player and the only things that will stop him playing is if the deal is signed before or he declares himself unfit.

He will want to play against some of the best centre backs in the Premiership without any doubt and to be on TV is his biggest

window of opportunity. Go for Leon two goals will do for me
