Although the goals were excellent, what I did notice was they managed to throw away a 2-0 lead at home to a team which is likely dog shite, and they only managed to win it in the 98th minute.

The defending of whatever that team is championship level at best. He will score loads in that league playing for a top club in that league.

There was 37000+ at the match…..To be honest it looked a bit like Celtic playing someone like Ross County….

Small pond. He’s never going to be tested there. He isn’t going to command a big fee either.

Hamer is the same. Both should have done better but Gyokeres chose sunshine and Hamer chose Sheffield. The money helps them of course.

Joao Felix, Enzo Fernandes, Darwin Nunez, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes all went for over 65m from that same league that doesn’t command big fees….

You’re right but they were sold young/younger and had world class potential

Nah not for me, Vik and his agent have played a blinder career wise. Players constantly make their names for the top clubs in Portugal, moving to the big 4 leagues for huge fees.

Smart move as the standard outside the top 5clubs means he can fill his boots against similar if not worse level than he did for us. Then he gets to play European games and big derby matches which are watched by millions.

I full expect a huge team to make a move for him down the line.

Gonna be harder for Gus to stand out playing for a poor looking Sheffield United team. Hope he does though, all about the future sell ons.

Gyokeres choice of Sporting is a very smart career move.
Hamer's move smacks of desperation and has every chance of backfiring badly.

Fair point but there have been players that got big moves from Portuguese clubs at 25 and over

Luis Diaz
Bruno Fernandez
Hulk
Raul Jimenez
Falcao

Of that list I'd say Jimenez probably closest. Got to say it is a pretty good sign that even at 28 he commanded a €38 sum by scoring 31 in 120 for Benfica

Jiminez was loaned to Wolves I think and scored double figures in the Premier League then they chose to sign him
