I would think most L1 teams will do more than ok against academy teams and some big bruisers will shake up some of the kids.
Seriously Might it mean less premier academy kids going out on loan to clubs like ours?

We still hold the record for most attendees to a game outside of the final - by some distance as well.

Is it compulsory to play or can we withdraw?

Hope the club voted against this. Suspect they haven't as the clubs that did have been quick to announce it.

Best bet might be everyone boycotting. If nobody turns up it will be complete farce. Its hard enough to get people to go to JPT games anyway. Now there will be more early round games against kids.

Any club organization should be willing to explain any votes or actions... regardless of which end they voted (unless abstaining was an option?),

It's called Transparency. ?... I read about it in a book once

Think its a joke, demoralizing you can't even have nothing to look forward to winning even in the dregs now. All about developing cat one players getting them real mens football. For the lads that dont go on loan, dont agree with this

Wouldn't surprise me if this became standard after the pilot...but with a few tweaks. Like 2 senior players permitted as well...as that will attract a few more fans to the games...more money BUT more chance of the academy teams getting to the final. And it all just downgrades the status of everything below the Premiership imo

imagine the excitement of ccfc reserves v west brom youth.
Used to get some decent crowds at HR for reserve games but that's back in the late 80s when teams didn't have such big squads and you'd regularly get 'names' appearing. Think it was only a quid to get in as well.
If fans don't boycott we'll be stuck with it. What happens when you get Man City kids v Everton kids in the final at Wembley. There will be nobody there. So do they then move it from Wembley and devalue the competition even more?

shudder......

that just reminded me of many a dark Wednesday night watching tony Sheridan, martin booty and sandy Robertson and being quite excited that I was sitting in the main stand. I even remember going to an away reserve game against Southampton at the Dell

To this day I don't know why I did that

Used to go regularly to the reserve games in the mid 90's before we could afford to watch the first team as regularly...

Remember one game against Sunderland where a couple of my mates got ejected. Passions running high that night...!!

Also remember the youth cup final game vs West Ham, was quite a decent crowd if I recall, and a decent turnout of West Ham fans...

Also an England schoolboy match against Wales around 96 ish. May well have been a sellout, or at least close, although memory is a bit hazy...
