Where would be the seaside resort of choice for the discerning Sky blue planning to make a weekend of it?

Myself and Mrs oldmangroom made a weekend of it a few years back on the opening day of the season. Saw the game, drove down to Lyme Regis and then went to River Cottage (Axminster) on the Sunday.

Butlins at Minehead.....?

Have always wanted to go to Ilfracombe but it's about 2 hours further west despite being in the next county so not exactly on the doorstep.

Depends what you want from the weekend...
A Blackpool style piss up in a tatty, run down town, dodgy bars and lots of loud obnoxious drunks...Minehead or Weston super mare are for you.
Alternatively, a nice weekend away with young family or wife/girlfriend - then other suggestions like Lyme Regis, saunton, croyde, exmouth would be more suitable!
