Your 1st Kit (1 Viewer)

Sports Lounge is back! After a couple of weeks off due to my work commitments, we're back full time (Until i go on holiday in August). To celebrate the launch of Coventry's new away kit (Which i think looks bloody beautiful), we'd like to know when did you get your 1st football kit? It doesnt have to be a Coventry shirt, it can be any football kit. And please send a photo too so i can describe it on air for the audience. Its gonna be a big show this week as i will be on air on my 19th birthday. Unfortunatley couldnt get an interview with a CCFC player cus i didnt get a reply for the media department, but still gonna be a big one. Tune into Hillz FM 98.6 Thursday 10AM-12Noon for all the action. Get involved in any topic brought up on the show, or even for a shout-out by tweeting @Hillz_SL or just put it in a post on here. Thanks for all your help guys. Couldnt be done without you

My first kit was the purple and gold third kit from 95/96. I had been looking for a Coventry kit in all sport stores in Newcastle that summer during my holiday, and then I found that shirt for sale at the main tourist road in Oslo when visiting my grandmother. Still have it :)

1967 when we were promoted from the old division 2 to the dizzy heights of Division 1. I was 6 years old and it was my birthday present. I had never seen them play and we had no television. Between 69 and 72 I was a Man City fan, then got back on track supporting Coventry once I started attending Highfield Road.

They wern't marketed like they are now way back as a kid.

Fist thing CCFC came my way was a scarf .

After having regulation hand me down sports kit and boots for school ,the biggest thing to happen In our house was my elder Bro getting a pair of George Best Purple/Burgundy, side lace up boots, courtesy of the Grattan Catalogue ,almost bought him god status In our street .

Still got mine, I loved that top. Different to everything else we ever had.

Pity we never won a bloody game playing in it!

1st kit I ever had was early 70s, sky blue top with the big black collar, black shorts and sky blue socks. It was a laugh watching us play Wolves on "Star Soccer" in black and white...couldn't tell who was who!

West Ham kit - no idea why - old man a closet Wolves fan, who took me to Highfield Rd. My first kit looked like any in the picture, but the ball was usually orange, as I recall and the boots bl**dy uncomfortable - happy days!!

My first kit, which is still my favourite to this day, was the 1997/1998 kit. I would love us to go back to the sky/navy blue stripes!

First kit was the home kit in 1987 none the less! Brought from Tony Brittans on Ball Hill!!!

My first shirt was an Everton shirt in the late '60's followed by a Cov strip the next season. It was the one with a thin navy blue band in a round white collar. It was for the junior house team which was blue.

Home and away umbro ones in 1984. Used to wear the home one under my school shirt and big fluffy City wristbands.

Now that is dedication at a school full of Plastic Scousers!

My first kit was the blue and white striped one of the early 90s. Which my mum has cut out a felt "7" and "Gallacher" on the back.

Felt like a fucking legend wearing that.

First ever kit was some generic white one with blue trim from a jumble sale.....

First city kit was a year later....the "egg timer" kit from the late 70's....my grandad got it for me from the club shop for my birthday.....kept in on for a week.....& I mean I actually kept it on for a week...

Favourite city kit was probably the Talbot kit....my 1982 subbuteo team still look resplendent in it on my shelf to this very day....although the airfix glue on Les Sealeys legs looks a little yellow....

The one in the picture to the left although do not remeber it having the Talbot badge on, fortunately never got the chocolate brown one. I also have one of Mick Ferguson's tops in the home version he wore on a pre-season tour to Scotland.

Mine was this one (same one as Rob 9872 had). Worn with pride at Highfield Road, playing football on the streets of Cheylesmore with my mates, and at manor Park Junior School!

Early 70's all sky blue shirt with big black collar , bought from Ernie Hunts in Cheylesmore , I had number 2 Mick Coop on the bag, it was the only number he had.
Dozens of us used to play on Manor Park school field , running the Gauntlet of the Caretaker.

Back in the mid sixties when I was about ten I got my Mum to dye an all white kit sky blue and sow some dark blue braid (cut from my sisters navy knickers) around the collar and cuffs. The socks were nilon and went a darker blue to the shirt and shorts which was perfect for the Ernie Hunt donkey kick eara. If my school mates had ever found out I was wearing my sisters knickers though I never ever would have lived it down.
