The Euros (1 Viewer)

As many of you know, England have been drawn against Russia, Wales and Slovakia at the Euros. What are your thoughts on our group? Are we going through?

If we don't get through then the whole squad and coaches should hang their heads in shame. Two or even three from this group will qualify

We should walk that group but as we generally fall apart in tournaments we will just scrape through

Yep, can finish 3rd and still go through. We will go through I'm sure.

Think we will get through unbeaten, though the Wales game could be a draw.

We'll go through I think - but knowing England it'll be a tight one!

Also know we'll lose to Wales - hope not, but wouldn't be surprised!

We'll walk that group. Stop Bale and you stop Wales. Much like Portugal with Ronaldo.
We should beat Wales, but this is England remember, so wouldn't surprise me if we put in a damp squib of an effort.

Us and Wales with 7 points each. No chance of not going through. It's crazy to think that it's possible for 4 teams with a point each to get through the groups. Anyway for us it's a good draw for the teams were playing but dreadful for the location of the games. Couldn't be any worse really.

Anyone applied for tickets?

Apparently unless you have a fair few "caps" (basically points you earn if you have previously attended England games) with the England Supporters Club you've got no chance for the Wales game.

I've applied for the Russia & Slovakia groups games and the quarters.

If Hodgson picks the right team, we'll go through. If he 'plays it safe', we wont. It seems like a very winnable group (and we do need to win it) but we need some flare players in attack. Russia will be the hardest team to beat.

Applying later on today. Been meaning to do for the last week or so. Earned enough caps to be guaranteed for every game. Russia is a given for everyone and the FA seem confident they'll have enough for everyone against Slovakia. Got a minimum of 5000 for Wales so all of the regulars should be ok for that. Let the invasion begin!

How many caps are we talking to be guaranteed a ticket or at least to have a chance of one?

I'd say at least 30 to get a ticket guaranteed. Need at least 1 to even just apply for all the games that are oversubscribed. There's around 12000 paid up TC members atm. Most have 15 plus. As I said though as long as you've paid your membership fee you have a good chance for Russia and potentially a good chance for Slovakia. Just make sure you book trains and flights now (for at least Marseille) if you apply. Whilst I'm on the subject of Marseille book the first train out after the game if you want to still be the owner of your possessions. I think it's around 1.30am. Doesn't matter where you get off, just get on it and leave!

Nobody knows the category splits. So in theory you could go for one category and miss out due to it being over subscribed, and someone with lower caps get a ticket in a different category. Everyone I know is going for cheapest cats. It'll be interesting to see how they sort it. The FA are still flogging memberships at 75 quid a pop in any case.

Always trying to make a few quid. Membership has jumped by 1500 or so (at £75 each that's another £112,500 in the FA's coffers) in the last couple of weeks. Could be a few disappointed and pissed off people soon!

Looking to just travel around France at the time of the Euros - what is it like for fans without tickets around the cities? I assume buzzing and are there screens to watch the games?

CJ is the best person to ask but I would think it's fine, plenty of pubs and usually have the fanzones where you can watch the games

Most towns will have fanzones. Well worth a trip over there. May even be a chance to get some cheap tickets. Just avoid where England are playing first. I know a lot of members that aren't bothering with that one and heading out afterwards.

I've got tickets to Ukraine v Northern Ireland, planning on doing a little tour around France myself.

How cheap is it likely to be to get my hands on tickets for games not involving England whilst I'm over there? I've looked online at places like Viagogo (though I'm well aware you pay a king's ransom through that) and Cat.4 group stage tickets seem to be on sale for between €300 and €400. Considering they only cost €25, I think it's extortion. Tempted, however, to put my ticket on there if there's little chance of me being able to buy tickets at lower prices when in France.

I think I'm driving to Marseille and Lens for those 2 games. Not got any tickets but the FA website thinks the Russia game will be undersubscribed, I still dont want to risk paying £75 for membership because I dont have any caps. Why cant it be easier to buy tickets.

Well one benefit may be to profile fans, at least then there is an opportunity to profile fans, if they did have any mal intent.

The FA have been heavily criticised recently with the way how they've been running things by a large percentage of the membership (myself included). To be fair to them though £75 is pretty good for two years. They apparently lose money on that due to the cost of the DBS checks and other costs. The caps system has it's flaws. I get the same amount of caps for traveling thousands of miles for an away trip as someone who pays a pittance to get in at Wembley. When it comes to the allocation of away and tournament tickets though it is a system that rewards loyalty. There isn't really a better way is there?

Got to be honest the chance of being blown to fuck puts me off a bit

Sol Campbell told us all that if you're black or gay you'll come back from Euro 2012 in a coffin. Couldn't have been further from the truth. A quiet, relatively safe Oxfordshire town fell victim to an 'IS related' attack recently. There were bloodstains on the road outside one of the schools I was working at yesterday from a shooting on Sunday. Bad things happen everywhere. We've just got to get on with life. If we don't, they win and their mission is complete.

Profiling of football fans at airports travelling to England away games takes place whether or not you're a member or a ticket holder anyway.
It's the one area of airport passenger profiling that is allowed.

£75 for 2 years Isn't bad but as it runs in the cycle for each tournament if I were to sign up now I wouldn't get 2 years member ship and would have to pay again as soon as the euros is over to get membership for the WC qualifiers.

I get that its our mindless fans fault and not the FA's but as they are saying that the matches against Russia and Slovakia are likely to be undersubscribed it would be good to have a deal whereby you pay for your club membership maybe a little extra and are guaranteed a ticket for the game.

The problem also lies with UEFA, stade velodrome is massive and yet we only get 10,000 tickets to ensure that 'corporate partners' can fill the stadium

We're getting a minimum of 11000 for that game plus what ever Russia (they've got 11k too) don't sell. More should be available for the fans though. It's a joke how tickets for games get dished out to the 'football family' and not to where they should go to. It should be noted that 11k is considerably more than enough for those that have put time and money in the past campaign. I appreciate what you're saying about the cost for one tournament but it's been well documented for years that the membership fee is for two years not just a couple of months and that for a fair chance of getting tickets you'd need to show some commitment by attending away games.

Looks like UEFA have had some money off me credit card but dunno what games I've got. Bit weird.

It could just be that Nigerian that asked for me bank details to pay in my lottery winnings.

It's brilliant isn't it. Can have hundreds or thousands taken and no one has any idea about what they've bought. Can understand why they don't tell us before but why is it taking so long to let us know after the payment has been taken?

It must all be in a database so wouldn't be too hard to get it to send out emails telling you what you've got. Might take a while to get through them all but better than what they seem to have in place.

Just had the email from Uefa. Tickets for all 7 games (knock outs are conditional on England progressing). Bring on the summer!
