Butts park arena? (1 Viewer)

We be happy with mid-table Championship for now wouldn't we?

4 or 5 seasons in the Championship and then see where we are.
Its pretty much our last straw of hope now for a better future, get promoted and just aim to survive relegation every year, tread water in the bottom half of the championship and then hope we can fluke a promotion one year like Blackpool or Palace did.

Just can't see any point in building a stadium for League One football and without having to sound like a broken record, I like many others have very serious doubts we would ever be allowed to have a 25,000 seater stadium at the Butts.

.
They reckon they could get a 25k stadium in there, they've obviously drew up the plans and looked at it in more detail than anyone here.

So for now I will take their words over a bunch of people who are just guessing and trying to push there own agenda on here.

Well yeah, but a 25,000 seater stadium fitting in there and their being allowed to build it are two separate things.

I just don't think the location there could possibly handle 25,000 fans. Can be busy round there now with no game on at all.

The sad point is that to get a 30k stadium it would not be in the cov boundaries so unless people are prepared for that then this will never happen.

Personally I would rather have a full 25k stadium at the butts and have that demand problem rather than have a half empty black and yellow stadium that we would never fill and don't own. I think realistically the butts move won't go ahead, ccc will put blockers on it at some point on a planning perspective and I don't think cov rugby will be willing to give it a go

Yep agree. I think they will look at it and see that it is just not feasible. It would need major road reconstruction just for starters.

It's not just the traffic that's the issue. 350 OAPs are about to move in next door and Earlsdon has one of the more rabid neighbourhood associations.

Build it where Iceland is in Town, instead of City Centre South!

There's a difference between 1,506 average attendance and 12,570.

Also, it's :nailbiting: FOOTBALL FANS!

Its OK, they'll be deaf as doorposts so won't even notice there's a game on! :D

Are they?

That place will have its own concerts, bands on, tribute acts. It will pump some noise.

I've seen full brass bands walking through one!

Quick bit of googling. As the ground is right next to a train line thought I'd compare. Trains seem to be in the region of 83 - 97 decibels. Emirates Stadium is in the top 10 loudest in the country and is 77 decibels. Found another report that states a 40K crowd at 60 - 65 decibels.

That must be the biggest branch of Iceland in the world if you think we'd fit a stadium in there!

I would love us to be in the city centre, would be the making of the club!

Yep, unfortunately there is a degree of snobbery too. Rugby is acceptable, but we don't want those horrible football hoodlums.

How big is the area by the old gas place down from Radford Road in the centre? Do you know where I mean? You come down Radford Road towards the ring road, past the fire station and it's on the right under the ring road.

The reason I mention this is because I remember reading the fire station wanted to move too, thus creating a bigger area there.

They would have to do a system for selling tickets with a smaller capacity. There would be season tickets, memberships and then somebody like yourself who does go a lot should then get preference over Dave from Bedworth who just wants to go and see Eden Hazard.

With Ticketmaster now, there is a lot more power to do things properly I think.

Basically .... I'm fooked because I live abroad - means nothing to those in the clique of course ...

What type of train is it , diesel, electric, steam, how fast is it going, how many cariidges is it pulling,
Is it running on old or new tracks , is it sounding its horn, oh and does it alight at Iceland.;)

No they don't. The 25000 maybe Extension only came after the fans reaction last time. It remains 15000 approved for a Rugby club.

Not sure if this has been posted already but hopefully this gives us some idea of the rough size of the relevant areas. No matter which way the pitch is, fitting in a four sided ground would be difficult. In fact worryingly the footprint of the Ricoh bowl is double the size of the footprint of the BPA itself. I very much doubt any of the rest of the site is suitable due to the train line and the flats. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

It isn't as simple as that Nick. Look at a case involving Mildenhall Stadium which is a motorsport venue. A couple moved into a house a couple of miles up the road and promptly started complaining about noise etc. They took them to court claiming that they didn't know it was there when they bought the house despite there being an advertising board yards from their house and the stadium owners producing sworn evidence from the previous owners and the estate agent who sold the house confirming that they had been made aware that the venue was nearby when viewing the house and they won. It's practically broke the owners of Mildenhall stadium in legal bills, they're now under a strict curfew which means they have to stop meetings by a certain time (9pm IIRC, the previous curfew being 10:30) and have had to shell out a fortune having special fencing erected all around the venue that's about twelve feet tall to try and control the noise. To top ot all of the venue is also right next door to RAF Mildenhall which has flights taking off twenty four seven that the owners of the house can't put a stop to.

Don't underestimate the power of the residents. Especially when a precedent like Mildenhall has already been set in a court room. The fact that they chose to live next door to the BPA doesn't seem to mean jack from what I can tell.

Cheers for that CJ. That's brilliant.

You can't do that for the piece of land I highlighted could you? The area just down from the fire station. :)

Do you mean by Wickes? Don't think they want to move more that they've been told to move into a combined centre with the police.
That wouldn't be big enough even with the extra land.

The only option I see (if we rule the Butts out) for the city centre is to knock something down. Best bet would be if you imagine a line continuing from New Union St coming out on the empty land next to Iceland. That would create a square with Greyfriars Road and Corporation Street that's the perfect size. You could include office space in the build to bring in revenue and move the stores being knocked down into empty units elsewhere in the city centre.

Would link up well with the work going on near the station.

As I say, Dave. Look at the link in my post. That looks a very similar size to the Butts. From that ariel view you can compare the two.

It is the opposite side to Wickes, opposite Belgrade Plaza. When you come round the ring road from the direction of the train station, past Earlsdon turn, past Birmingham towards Foleshill Road and you take the slip road to Radford (junction 9), you can see it on you left as you come down the slip road.

That law changed a few months back. Now if you build next to something its down to the developer to put in sound proofing. You can't complain about noise at a later date.

The key here would be how much louder a football crowd would be and for how long. For example the Ricoh can hold concerts as its not all day every day. Same could apply to crowd noise.

Yeah I don't know the rules and can't be bothered to look them up. I can say that I can cope with train noise, but a large football (or rugby!) crowd next to me would finish me off!

Also meant to post this as the Keepmoat, which has a capacity of 15300 is more relevant to this project. image.jpeg
