Does anyone think it's odd that we have not had the usual 'The search begins for our next manager, we will take our time, many expressions of interest, must find the best candidate' type statement that every club always rolls out after a managerial departure? Nothing.
Any thoughts on why that might be?

I think they're going to give it to Venus and have known that since TM left.

Maybe, but a job ending up going to someone internal does not usually mean no statement on it at all. You would expect them to state that Venus has the job as caretaker until all options, including Venus, have been explored. That's the way it's always done isn't it?
However, you might avoid making a statement altogether if you knew that a new owner might want to choose their own manager. Just saying. :)

I think you're right.

The club statement about TM stepping down says:

"Technical Director, Mark Venus will take responsibility of first team duties with immediate effect"

The wording makes it sound like a permanent appointment.

Or is deliberately ambiguous? Stating neither permanent or temporary.

I pointed that out at the time.

It's why Mowbrey said him leaving would free up wages to strengthen the squad. He would not have said that if another manager was coming in because he would just have taken his salary. I expect MV to take charge for the rest of the season.

if were are having to have a director in charge of team affairs due to the budget and not ability, money must be a lot tighter than we think

I wonder if that's what fisher was on about when he was quoted as saying there will be an announcement in a couple of weeks that the fans won't like.

Or something is in the offing and they think it's best not to commit to a new manager?

When did he say that?

I think he actually said that he wouldn't take any settlement that he was entitled to as the club needs every penny rather than indicate that if he goes, Venus will get his job and it will save the club a few quid freeing something up for wages. That's how I took it anyway but I guess it's open to interpretation.

Think he means they are accepting an offer from a Mr Dhinsa - if they can find his phone number.

I was in the corporate section when a fan started on about his tattoos and how much he loved the club etc. TF was polite and chatted to the fan until the fan became abusive and the insults personal.

Maybe next time I'll chat to him myself and try and work out what is what.

Interestingly, the PV chairman was talking to us for a while. Said that the loss of TM was a big loss for us, he is a top bloke. I've been at City fan for many many (25 plus) years, like most of us, and never spoken to any of the chairmen!

I went to Vale Park as its one I had never been to, so wanted to cross it off the list. Their hospitality was excellent.

  1. Maybe that Fisher is committing himself to the club long term
  2. Announcing next manager is Evans
No offence to our fine chairman but numbers and timescales are not his specialty look at some of his previous statements
