STUART Beavon says he will look back on his time with Burton Albion as the best of his footballing career so far.
The striker played a key role in securing back-to-back promotions for the Brewers, taking the club from League Two to the Championship and his passion and commitment to the cause made him the fans’ choice for Player of the Season in 2014/2015 and 2015/2016.

“My game is all about hard work, graft, chipping in with a few goals but more about creating them – so maybe not your typical No 9. I like to think that when I go out there I give everything and that helps the team.

“The Player of the Season awards are massive for me. They are some of the most precious awards you can get. It has helped me enormously that I have felt wanted and the two awards show that.

“Those two season were all about the effort the lads put in to earn those promotions and that’s why the club is in the Championship now.

Beavon is now looking forward to his new challenge after signing for Coventry until 2018.

He said: “They are a huge club and in a false position. They are going through a rough patch as all clubs do at times but, speaking to the manager, he’s aware of the task and with the squad he has there and the players he wants to bring in, I’m sure we can get some results on the board and turn things around.”

Russel Slade said: “Stuart was a major part of Burton’s progression out of League One last year.

“He is relentless with his application and work ethic and gives you everything for the entire 90 minutes.

“His link-up play is very good, can score you goals, and he is the kind of team player we need at the football club.”

Whilst not a prolific scorer , he may be a Regis type of forward. ie score a few now and then , set up a lot of assists , and cause defenders problems . could be a decent signing this one and , what is needed for the team . well done whoever got him in .

Really hope this works out. to be honest we need a goal scorer, we create a lot of chances but fail to put them in the back of the net, not sure if beavon is the answer from his prior record. Hope he is, but to say I'm slightly sceptical is an understatement.

#edit. I'd prefer someone who does fuck all for the team but just puts the ball in the back if the net, a-la Defoe.

Love the statement about player of the season awards being massive to him.

Really warming to the guy already. It looks like we will get 100% in every game from him

Who was our player of the year last season sums up the value of that

I don't like forwards he run around but don't score

It was John Fleck wasn't it? Now being lauded for his performances for the side top of the table. To have achieved that accolade two seasons running at a club that had the best two seasons in its history should count for something. Maybe it doesn't, but we won't really know until he pulls a shirt on. For now, I choose to be quite pleased by this acquisition.

It's a fair point though as many think Bigi is in line for it this year.

It was and he still looked limited when he played here the other week.

This man just doesn't score enough it's ok having a hard worker when the midfield drive on and score goals ours doesn't we will have to win goals one nil and that won't happen, I would have kept Sordell again it's quantity over quality with the signings

I agree that fans player of the season is a good indication of a players ability but didn't Turnbull get the Swindons fans vote the other season

Well yes, and you shouldn't read too much into it. Football fans are idiots most of the time. Look at those who slated Murphy last season when it was obvious to some of us he had a huge future in the game. Sometimes I'm one of the idiots too.

The point is, that given he won the accolade two seasons running, and that may of their fans feel we've got the better deal, it offers some encouragement. We'll see.

A late christmas present for us - on paper may not be as prolific as we hope for but hey, we're struggling and with loans going back etc. its nice to get someone in who's had some good experiences of promotion and hitting the back of the net. May be the usual lip service from a player, but nice to see he rates us as a big club and is happy to be here. Welcome aboard and good luck Stuart.

That's the thing, we have lacked somebody who is going to die for the cause. That will mean the other players see him and up their work rate and effort to, players like that don't accept others hiding either. He isn't Ronaldo or Messi but it's league one, just him running at every defender, chasing every lost ball and making a nuisance of himself will make teams cause mistakes.

Yes they were a 1-0 specialist team.
The Goalie played a huge role in that.

I'm hearing he chases the game down from the front, this can is good. Defend from the front, make the opposition defence make mistakes.

One thing I've observed from yesterday is Peterborough started most there moves from there defence as Tudgay didn't press. This allowed them to get to the half way line leaving us camped deep in our own half.

It is how it worked for us last year as well, we had a really high press. When Venus first came in and we won a couple of games we were pressing really high, our McCann / Bigi position was near enough up front a lot of the time.

I'm sure you'd not be alone...
If he does I'd sell him as he's shot his load in 1st game.... no more good could come from him on his stats.
