In the past being the operative thing you say. Not anymore.

What are you basing that on? Playing vs the AI or other human players? Or probably in your case not playing it at all...

You say "no agenda, just facts" but present zero facts?

These reviews are always misleading, most nowadays are paid for by the games companies themselves plus FIFA is always criticised because, although brilliant, people always expect more (usually unrealistic things) from EA & will always focus on negatives as it has dominated for so long.

I was a PES fanboy for years, right back from the ISS Pro Evolution days & it absolutely handed it's ass to FIFA through until the switch to the newer consoles (PS3/Xbox 360) for PES 2008. It badly lost it's way then to the point where it got so far behind it's hard to ever see it getting back to the same level as FIFA.

That said I am delighted it has made huge strides in these last 2 iterations because competition can only bring out the best in both. To me PES still feels 'clunky' & lacking polish. The fact it only has just 245 clubs vs FIFA's 700 & of which just half are licensed will always reduce appeal. Last year I believe the game shipped with horrendously out of date transfers & only had 2 updates all season, FIFA is updated every single week & there is no focus at all on lower leagues in PES.

It's each to their own but I will agree that PES has certainly narrowed the gap significantly where you can make a genuine case for owning either or even both.

This wasn't meant to be yet another PES vs FIFA debate again though, I would appreciate the opinions of people who actually own & play FIFA as to what they think it has done right this year & perhaps where it could still be improved, particularly in relation the Sky Blues!
Absolutely spot on

Should have this shortly, I'll be going BALLS DEEP into career mode. I'll right the 10 games of wrong, that is my promise.

Gone out on loan now, it's got a bit aimless. Not even achievements like score a header or outside the box either?

There are no aims though like career mode last year :( like score ten long range etc

That's intentional so that the modes aren't too similar, this is more of a Story Mode.
You can still do a Player Career mode.

It's just got to the point where it's "What am I aiming for?"

Going out playing games week in week out without any aim gets a bit boring :( Obviously it will be to get recalled back to parent club and score the winner but it would be nice in between to have a few challenges to do. (score from outide the box etx). Sort of like the bonuses when you came on as sub.

It kept the same settings as 16 so straight away on top difficulty and it seems that this year the AI isn't untouchable in possession and do actually balls up passes and lose possession in League One. Bizarrely in career mode Tudgay and McCann are on 6/7 year contracts.

Yep. If you put a lesser team under pressure you can easily force them into long balls or mistakes.

I think the contract thing in career is a known bug, I had it with Joe Cole last year. I wonder if it is to ensure the older players don't move around too much?

I got shot of Tudgay as they have that thing where you can't sell a retiring player, so I thought best to cut him loose while I can.

If you play them all religiously the differences make it worth it, if you dip in and out every few editions there's probably not enough drastically different to justify it other than everything being up to date.
