It’s incredible we’re looking to judge Wright in November. If you want to introduce Gyokeres into the argument you’d have to compare where he was after a handful of starts - and that he had Hamer and O’Hare feeding him.
I agree its too early to be judging him fully at this time but i dont think he can complain too much about service at this point. I really hope he can find his finishing ability and its encouraging that he is getting into positions to score....but he's missed alot of very good opportunities now

He's not a natural goal scorer. He tends to hit the centre of goal rather than the corners. Even watching him in shooting practice before the game he rarely scores. Really not sure what to make of him. He does somethings really well, he has enough pace, can dribble with the ball and can head it well. Yet he often seems on the back foot and lacks anticipation in the box. He doesn't seem a natural footballer. I wonder at what age he started playing? Maybe a convert from basketball or American football at high school as he clearly is an athlete.

Nope. Always been a “soccer” fan, grew up watching Henry on YouTube, been playing in teams since 7:

We been feeding Wright pretty well so far I'd say with very good chances. Just he's been missing them.

He's unlikely to create anything for himself from what I've seen. Yeah time will tell. When do we start judging him? At end of season?

At least, if not next season. He wouldn’t be the first signing to take that long to show his potential.

Say it time and time again wright is a winger not a striker. Most of his goals from Turkey were from the wing and that is where he is most effective. Robins has just seen someone tall and fast who scored goals and stuck him down the middle.

Exactly the same as Gyokeres, he liked to come in from the left, and Gyokeres missed plenty of one on ones last year.

In fact most strikers will tell you, a one on one is the most difficult finish as you often have the time to over think it.

The good thing about the Millwall game, he got into goalscoring positions, he hit the target, worked the keeper and we got goals as a result

You would hope anyone we buy for £8M having "potential" would be bare minimum. And you would hope he realises the potential of a £8M player sooner rather than later at this level.

In saying all that I hope he bangs in a hatrick tonight and rips them a new one.

Happy to eat humble pie on Wright.

In saying all that he has improved his all round game 100% but it's from a very low base.

Haji should've had a hattrick the last game, starting to pick up good space and make better runs, I reckon he bags tonight

So if he has improved his game 100% in the equivalent minutes of 12 games, just think what he might be like next season.

Like I said it was from a very base. He's 26 you would like to think he's going to get up to speed very soon. Considering it's almost December.

A lot of negativity about Wright's finish rate and his general passing. Let's go down through history and see how he compares to previous celebrated strikers ? And all these had a fox in the box to play alongside, much like Wright has Godden.

Robert Rosario - 59 games, 4618 minutes on pitch, 8 goals, 6 assists (goal every 577 minutes)

John Hartson - 12 games, 1080 minutes on pitch, 6 goals (goal every 180 minutes)

Cedric Roussel - 42 games, 2804 minutes on pitch, 11 goals (goal every 254 minutes)

How about another "speedster" ?

John Williams - 81 games, 5926 minutes on pitch, 11 goals, 8 assists (goal every 538 minutes)

And our current incumbent so far ?

Haji Wright - 18 games, 988 minutes on pitch, 4 goals, 2 assists (goal every 244 minutes). And of the 17 games he's participated in so far, 5 of those, he was brought on for the last 10 minutes so little time to settle in or to have an impact.

So with the exception of Hartson, Haji is the most productive CF in this sample. Even Gyokeres had worse stats for his first season in the Championship. Most fans here thought he was a bust and wanted a new striker for the following season.

So reel in those necks. Give the guy a chance as you did with Vik. I'm confident he will improve and if we do get a ball-playing midfielder in January, it could well be the catalyst to kickstarting Haji's season.

Go and rewatch his goals this season.
I’ve seen them all live and seen the highlights. He’s had some luck with rebounds that have literally dropped at his feet between the width of the posts. He just doesn’t seem on the same wavelength as the other players at times. The 5 yard passes go astray, he runs the ball out of play. I guess frustrating sums him up as I say does a lot of things well but then makes basic cock ups.

This 100%

He’s not performed at the level and for a 25 year old who has had top level training in Europe including Germany I’d expect much more technical quality.

I mean, he was at the LA Galaxy set up at the same time as Robbie Keane so he’s had the opportunity to study how a striker should play.

Others can make excuses and throw about the whataboutery but from my view as a fan he’s been worryingly slow to get a grip.

He needs to.

He would have been 14 years old when Robbie Keane was there

I’m pretty sure academy kids would have watched the first team play.

What’s your point?

Anyway. My bad, Haji Wright is absolutely brilliant and anyone who says otherwise is clueless. It’s not his fault when he’s had a bad game, he needs time to learn because no one had ever given him any opportunity.

Better?

I'm hoping that goal has given him some confidence, because he looked a different player again after it. There was that little spell near the corner with some interplay between him, Sheaf and O'Hare where he looked more technically skillful than at any point so far.

Think he's going to bag 15+ this season

I was really happy with the effort tonight. He was anything but lazy and the turn of speed was something we haven't seen from him before.

He's getting there, just needs a bit of target practice.

4 goals in his last 5 games, carry this on and he's getting 20

Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

Just said in his CWR interview he's got a goal set for the season, and he's hoping to achieve it. Didn't say what it was, but I reckon he's aiming for 20
