Can't see any PL getting back involved and without them it likely dies as like it or not most of the interest would come from people wanting to watch them.

It already sort of exists, the Champions League. Same core set of teams qualifying every year and many big teams see qualifying for it as being more important than winning an actual trophy.

Tempted to let them get on with it and reclaim domestic football a bit. Was always keen it all stayed together, but not so sure now.
We may have missed getting promotion last season, but not sure during the season we really missed not being in the top flight.

In the last 4 years of the European cup, teams from 7 nations made it to the final.

Wouldn't be surprised to see some of the Saudi teams eventually getting in through some loophole as well
The instinctive reaction from fans of the big PL teams to slam this proposal is quite odd, given the same fans spend every other waking hour lauding the current UEFA system which is hardly a model of competition and sustainability, and holds the fans in open contempt.

If any English teams want to sign up for this or any other version of it, then it should be made clear that in doing so they will also effectively resign their position in the PL. If the 6 'big' clubs want to do that it won't take long for a new pecking order to grow in English football without them, so effectively good riddance to them if that's what they choose to do!

It sort of happening now within the prem, there’s now a “big” 6/7 with the two Manc clubs Newcastle, Liverpool and the three big London outfits. In the wings there’s Villa possibly West Ham.
Not sure if there’s an answer the FA are weak and will capitulate to money.
With EFL signing a new four year Sky deal they will also go along with it.

Things like this (same with LIV golf) really are the biggest threat to professional sport as we know.
Say 6-8 English clubs go and go for this - and if they're in the top two leagues of x 16, they're going to be playing x 20 games if they get to the final. There's no way they'll be able to sustain 20 games on top of x 38 EPL games, FA Cup Games, League Cup etc. I know they have big squads but that could mean international players playing upwards of 70 games a season.
It's f*&king ludicrous.
To those that say 'let em go and kick em out of the league', I kind of agree but then you devalue what's left of the EPL. You'd have say, Aston Villa win it but others would just be saying 'Yeah, but there was no LFC, MCFC, MUFC, CFC etc etc'.
It's a crackpot idea to line the pockets of the rich and make them richer. A real stain on the future of professional sports.

The UK government’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport released a statement that indicated a bill about to pass into law, which sets up a new independent football regulator, would make it illegal for British clubs to join a breakaway league.
"The attempt to create a breakaway competition was a defining moment in English football and was universally condemned by fans, clubs and the Government,” said a DCMS spokesperson.
"We took decisive action at the time by triggering the fan-led review of football governance, which called for the creation of a new independent regulator for English football. We will shortly be bringing forward legislation that makes this a reality, and will stop clubs from joining any similar breakaway competitions in the future."
The UK is no longer bound by EU law since Brexit, so clubs would not be able to appeal to the European Court of Justice.
