McSheffrey signs a new contract (7 Viewers)

the only reason i can think of for some of these deals being done is to fix the future costs of the business over the next couple of seasons (that might have a bright side to it if SISU go ), That would give a potential investor confidence that costs are controlled.

With the exception of the youngsters (btw has Bigi signed a new contract extension like Thomas and Christie? ) the other contract extensions only serve to further dent any confidence I have in the management, board & SISU knowing what they are doing. The confidence is small to start with but are we thinking of moving our ground to the university hospital because thats where these crocks spend a lot of time

Sorry but i am not thrilled at all by McSheffery, McPake, Bell & Baker getting new contracts .... they time and again proven they are not consistently good enough or stay fit enough. The realist in me feels this is the level we have sank to and these are division 1 signings and average ones at that.

Well, I for one am pleased he's staying.

In fact, I have a question for all those who constantly slag off Bell, McSheff, Hussey, and now seemingly McDonald and Murphy. With those five out of the team if you had your way, who would play?

I have no issue with Hussey, he's still a kid. But to answer your question.

Bell - Bigi
Sheffers - ruffles
McDonald - Clarke-Harris
Murphy - Dunn

I honestly don't care that they're kids. Almost every game I've seen this season the kids have shown up the pros in both talent and commitment. And they're cheap.

Bigi has signed. That's all the kids who have played this season on long term contracts.

We've offered contracts to the younsters and Bell, Baker and McSheffrey. Whilst Clingan and Cranie have not been offered one as yet.

The Club are preparing for League One football.

Rubbish. It's been repeatedly stated ALL players who's contracts are up at the end of the season have been offered contracts. Clingan confirmed this just last week.

You're entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts.

diffrence was between then and now, adams had money to spend and signed a bunch of crap like kyle and mckenzie.

thorns had fuck all to work with and had his 4 best players taken away from him and being replaced either with far inferior players or no1 at all.

i agree with you brinner all i am saying is the fans have NOT turned on the players like they did when adams was here because they relise the blame is at board level !! there is nothing AT can do about it because he hands are tied.

You need grafters and courage to play at that level....................do you think these 3 have any of those qualities. More SISU bullshit to do with THEIR future plans for the club and their exit strategy.

Worryingly, SISU will probably say (via Thorn, making out he's happy with this 'progress') they are tying down our 'assets' so they dont get poached by other clubs. Well SISU, Ill tell you, Id be happy if someone did try and snatch these players from us! If they really think other teams would want them, they are more deluded than we thought!

If you could compare like for like, i.e. all of Thorn's predecessors had the same financial clout as he has...er none, then yeah, you would be right.

no youre right there torch its the best team we have had since relegation as our position shows :thinking about::thinking about:

a midfielder of McSheff, Biggi, Bell, Baker will not dominate League One...

Lets not be fooled into thinking they are preparing for League One.

If thats what they are doing, they wouldnt be offering contacts to crocks and big earners who are not peforming...

It a sale or increasing assets to apply for more loans !

Seriously pissed off about this, especially after the garbage performance he put in on Saturday. It's almost like he went "shit, I'm not likely to get a better deal playing like this, I'll take the cash".

The only two who deserve another contract are Clingan and Cranie, the rest can wait to see where we are next season. If it's L1 then the likes of Platt and Baker will be OK. If it's the Championship then we'd be better off getting rid and playing the kids for both financial and footballing reasons.

What has Sheffers done to earn this extension - nothing this season, has no pace nor stamina and is a liability out wide as he offers no defensive support to the full back.

baker, Bell & sheffers are not the answer this season, too inconsistent and none have any pace, signing them up must be cos they may be the answer next season in a lower league but shouldn't we be aiming for automatic promotion and if that happens they will be all back in the championship where they could't cut it but 2 years older and even slower.

Crazy times

I dont know how long Jukes got left on his contract but with him being such an important player i would think it wuold be a huge priority to get him on a new contract. Clingan and Cranie are in a similar boat.

Juke is very important, that's why we will wave bye bye to him in January for 1m.

At this rate we will have the current side all signed up on contracts and playing in L1.

Maybe we are preparing for L1 already by playing the future team?

No that sounds like planning and you know that doesn't happen at CCFC

We are obviously building for league one next season. There's no other explanation why he'd get a new deal. Been nothing short of woeful this season, when he's been fit that is!

I am sure I read McSheffrey was on a one year deal with an option for another year.

If it is another one of these deals, why do they inisist / agree on this clause? it probably gets activated after 5 games knowing SISU and it means we'll have to put up with him forba further yr, and we'll be having this same conversation this time next yr

Anyone who thinks this is good news obviously havent seen him play this season. Although the first half against Millwall was the best i seen him play for a while but that surely didnt deserve a new contract.

what makes me smile is thorn saying that now gary is approaching full fitness....we should start too see the best of him .. we are a third of the way thru the season he should be more than approaching full fitness by now

To me SISU are starting to rub off on Thorn to talk utter bollocks. The past few weeks i've cringed at what Thorn has been saying.

He was out injured. Every player works back to full fitness from injury, this isn't some kind of lazy McSheffrey thing.

I think the whole squad in general hasn't looked fit enough this season. His was only a short term injury 2 weeks or so? He had a full pre season before that so fitness shouldn't really be an issue tbh.

that was one thing Boothroyd did get right, start of last season the players were very fit. Doesnt seem to be the case this season but perhaps the lack of confidence

This is very good positive news, Macca is a Cov lad through and through.

Always gives 100% and is fully commited to CCFC. Im glad about this.
Does he though? I am a season ticket holder and attend most games and only once this season can I say that his body language has shown 100% effort and commitment to the cause.

I watch him and he gives the impression he is just going through the motions and doesn't really care that much.

Boothroyd or the fitness coach? I dunno, how much does the manager have to do with fitness issues? Aren't they just kept updated over players condition.

not a serious tho was it? hes played in 10 games this season, should be there by now.

Depends on the injury really. Safe to say that his approach to full fitness isn't a journey that began in July though, even Freddy Eastwood could sort himself out in that time.
