Coventry City midfielder Jim O'Brien has moved to Scunthorpe United on an emergency loan deal.

The 28-year old has made 29 appearances for the Sky Blues this season, scoring two goals, against Crewe Alexandra and Millwall in the early stages of the season.

O'Brien last started for the Sky Blues in the 3-0 defeat against Southend United in January and has moved to Glanford Park for more first-team opportunities.'

Really? That's a surprise.

His performances have been a bit off lately though, so maybe he knew he was moving on.

Shame, I liked him. just not the same player this season.

I wonder if we have delberately done this because Scunthorpe play Millwall on Tuesday and we want Millwall to lose. :thinking about:

Hmm not too sure about this. O'Brien is ready to start if called upon, I'm not too sure Lameiras is yet. I thought Lameiras would be the one going out on loan.

Don't worry we have Stephen Hunt waiting in the wings.

I'd heard a rumour he was going to fleetwood a couple of weeks ago so it seems that he wasn't happy here. I don't think he had the positional discipline to play in Mowbray's team long term.

Bit of a shock, but all season it's looked like he's not Mowbray's preferred choice.

I would speculate that O'brien has driven this rather than ccfc. He just loves playing football O'brien

I know we are overloaded with players in this area but JOB's energy and experience would've been much needed during the run-in. A calming influence when using a youthful attack. Mogga knows best I suppose although JOB is a guy who probably needs to be playing week in week out at this stage of his career. Shame.. Out of contract in the Summer too!

Don't get that one. Bit of a headless chicken sometimes but ideal for upping the tempo when required. Also would've been ideal as a starter for some of the upcoming games.

He lives in Barnsley too... with a young family

Scunny much closer to home, maybe something to do with that?

Would never knock O'Brien's commitment and endeavour but he is well down the midfield pecking order now, can do a job for Scunny hopefully against some of our rivals, perhaps TM has doubled his bonus should we get promoted.

in my opinion all he offers is energy as he is really poor technically, and now we have Rose who has energy as well as height, O'brien is pretty much surplus to requirements.

He's been pretty poor since November and his ill discipline in a positional sense has cost us this season, with the equaliser against Walsall at home being a prime example. Appreciate that he works hard for the team but never been a fan of the way he tears into his team-mates, especially the young lads, if they make a mistake. There is a difference between being a hardworker and a good player, they aren't mutually exclusive but one doesn't guarantee the other.

How can you judge Hunt or Rose from 2 games? Hunt has played at a consistently higher level than JOB for his whole career.

As an aside, I have a feeling that TM feels that JOB's character in the dressing room isn't great for some of the younger players.

Not really too bothered loads of cover, he clearly just wants to play and we can't guarantee that. Goodluck but really don't think he'll be missed.

The catalyst for this has to be Mowbray, who hasn't appeared to rate him along the way. Whenever he's had a chance to drop him he's taken it. Considering the effect JOB can have on the team I am really appalled it has come to this.

For someone who plays the passing game and has one of the best levels of vision in the team, I was always surprised coupled with his high work rate why he was dropped at any chance, and hasn't been starting at all recently, as that is TM's style of football. He may be a little off form, but no one can question his work rate.

I think that was what has made me so angry about Murphy recently, constantly not putting in the required effort (despite any form) but retaining his place in the team week in week out, where as Jim is an absolute work horse and has not been getting any time in that position to prove himself.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jim pushed this through, but I don't blame him at all. I really don't think he's been treated fairly this year. Not only that, but I think we've missed him, and will continue to miss him for the rest of the season.

Best of luck Jim, and I'm sorry our (usually impressive) management team couldn't sort their shit out.
