For one thing, coppers aren't at risk. Its the civvies who are being sacked or replaced by G4$, and most of the old bill don't give a f%$^ about their civvie or PCSO "colleagues". The only "cuts" affecting officers WAS they couldn't stop on after their 30 years, and by that time the only ones that were stopping on anyway were the ones in back office jobs. Hardly an old mans game being part of the OSU and driving around in riot vans.

Very true Reg one of the best things to happen was the 30 rule retirement rule for police, I work with a number of ex coppers now in their mid fifties or a bit older who spent their last 10 years in the Job behind desks but coming out at weekends for a bit of footie overtime.

Sorry don, I didn't realise you were being sarcastic, so apologies if I was a bit OTT.

I appreciate it takes a "no-nonsense" attitude to be on an OUS van and that an over exuberance, perhaps even red mist, would sometimes surface. While some officers are drafted in from local boroughs to make up the numbers, I have no doubt a gang culture exists between the regular serials themselves. I just believe that attitude and peer pressure, perhaps not too dissimilar to the "firms" they try to address on match days, is what drives some of them to be heavy handed - rather than any economic factor or a great desire to serve the public trust.

I have read police saying they will be looking at cctv footage to identify and prosecute trouble makers where possible, I support that 100%, funny though when they have footage shown on National TV of PC Ricky Alsopp, quiet clearly attacking an individual, identified and dealt with internally, of what could be deemed pre-meditated violence by asking the desk sergeant if the cell cctv cameras where on or off, the West Midlands police haven't charged PC Alsopp with assault based spuriously on what they say is time lapse.

A couple of weeks ago it was about being no police attacks on the public. Then the news breaks that one of our own supporters gets damages for being attacked by an officer. This only occurred because another officer reported it. And the officer kept his job.

As I said before it is too much of a big comment to make to say that it doesn't happen. And you making out that some are saying that it happens everywhere all the time is either missing the point or saying whatever you want to try and make those that have witnessed such attacks look wrong. Or are you just trying to save face after saying attacks don't happen before one hits the news?

But think back to the Derby game. Straight away there was video footage and people saying it was over the top and out of order.

The comment made was that 'it happens all the time'. I just don't believe that groups of police are going into pubs where there is no sign of trouble and physically attacking people having a quiet drink without it being reported anywhere and no video footage surfacing. There's CCTV and everyone has a mobile phone that can film these days.

Take the alleged incident yesterday, we're told everything was fine in the Wheatsheaf and the police charged in and started attacking our fans with batons for no reason. Presumably then those in the pub, and indeed the landlord, will be reporting this to the press and taking legal action. After all there will be CCTV and anyone who was in the pub and being filmed is entitled to a copy under data protection rules so it will be an open and shut case.

That's not saying there aren't dodgy policemen or things that shouldn't never happen.

I had a good day in Coventry except for result. British Transport Police and local plod were all good, directed me to city centre pubs before the game were very straightforward blokes. Police came into the pub to have a look around, standard stuff.

After the game walked through the car park of Tesco and got a cab back to the station, something had just happened in Foleshill as plenty of wagons came down the road, a Coventry bloke got jumped on by the hi-vis boys, he had a glass in his hand and was shouting a lot in the middle of the road. Some ‘Wall had bloodied faces and were walking on. Taxi kept going and took us to the station.

Again the police at the station and on the train were fine.

Decent noise from us lot in the ground, apart from the result enjoyed it. I would say good stewarding to move Dad and son into the away end, why not?

I have sat in the home section a few times when we have been away no to be hard or clever just sat with friends or had freebies, I find it quite interesting to see how the opposition fans see the game and who they rate in our side. I never jump up when we score or take the piss (don't normally get the chance as we are usually being beaten) if you are going to go in the other side end act like an adult and it's normally fine lots of time fans around me must have worked it out but never any bother but wouldn't do it at Millwall

Exactly my point. They should have been kicked out. They were told not to travel and broke the rule, home fans only in the home end that it states on the ticket. Cov fans have been kicked out the Ricoh for less.

All them milwall fans I spoke to were great. My lad likes to get the autographs of the players so we were there (as usual) when the team coach arrived. Most your players were great young guys freely chatting and giving autos and photos with cov and wall fans alike. Including the guy who got sent off
Had a bit of banter with some fans...knowledgable and fun as most fans of all clubs are.

Lurker i find it hard to believe the ob just decided to enter the wheatsheef and pick on city fans. We all know the type who dring in the ws and they are hardly the inocent type out for half a shandy.

Anyone present in the pub could make a claim. No bullshit. Police came in with batons. Yes outside a couple of glasses were thrown at the police outside but that was minor compared to what happened inside.
