A joint academy/training facility - we already have a training facility which is paid for and we own, why would we move? That would require us to put in significant capital in the millions. When they move in at higgs and the pool is built the indoor pitches will be gone and that will mean the end of our academy.
Physiotherapists - already got them, if you share and reduce what happens on matchdays? We often play home/away at the same time?
Doctors - already have a club doctor. As above.
Sports psychologists - as above
Marketing Staff - as above. We spend far less on marketing than wasps, joining costs here would in all probability see us subsidising them. Are you saying we shouldn't recruit to kierans vacent post?
Advertising - I can only see losses here. Company A can sponsor us for £x or wasps for £y. Jointly selling advertising would need to be a discount so will probably lead to a loss. Wasps won't want to share sponsorship, they will want to dominate in this area because they need the money.
Promotional schemes - again, we need all the revenue we can get, there won't be a big enough increase in tickets to cover reduction in tickets
A joint contract with Ticket master - probably won't see that much of a saving given that its mainly paid via customers booking fee
Ticket schemes/offers encouraging fans to attend the Ricoh for both Rugby and football - again, we need all the revenue we can get, there won't be a big enough increase in tickets to cover reduction in tickets. Plus neither club wants spit fan base, they want them committed to their brand, brad loyalty and all that.
Get us tied down to a 10 year deal
Share the above costs and increase acces to the increase revenue that will come as a result of the above uncertainty getting removed
Sorry don, that's all pie in the sky.
On top of this, you'd want cheap rent £150-200k per annum, and what 25-30% stadium sponsorship (£250-300k pa), and all matchay revenues (c£250). Wasps could easily charge us £400k rent , not give us a cut of the stadium sponsorship and keep the matday revenue and be £800k the better off without making it complicated. Plus forgetting all else they see us as competition for peoples leisure time spend (tickets) and sponsorship, they will want to dominate and maximise this, not share.
So going further on your proposals
So physios, we have 2, let's say one wasps have 2, we do a deal and share the resources, so wheres the saving? Going down to 3 physios. OK so matchday who has 2 and who has 1? Well rugby has bigger squads so they will probably have to the 2 and us the 1, so then we were worse off than before because we obviously needed 2 physios, otherwise we wouldn't have 2 physios.
Club doctor, I presume we have 2 each. Saving? Down to 1? Matchday, who do they go with? Us or wasps? In fact it would surprise me if its part of the fl and RFU rules that you have to have a doctor present
I could go on.
If its that much of a saving I'm surpised Leicester city and tigers haven't already joint all their backroom functions, or Swansea and osprays, or other clubs. They are missing out on huge savings.
