If the Butts was ready now as a 15,000 seater stadium then I would say fine, let's go there, but we are talking tens of millions and at least two years to even get to the stage of 15,000.

Would you seriously want those multi millions shelled out, for then maybe within 10 years having to go through the process all again?

Why not get it right first time? Let's trying and get the council backing us, meanwhile, Sisu should drop the court cases and work with Wasps for as long as it takes until we are in a position to find a secure home not just for 10 years, but for the next 100.

I haven't seen the financials for the Butts but you need to consider that if a new stadium costs, finger in the air figure, £40m it doesn't mean CCFC need to come up with £40m. CCC put less than 9% of the construction cost of the Ricoh in to own 100%. In my example that would mean £3.6m to split between us and CRFC.

As for a future PL stadium that would need new owners. We will struggle to attract new owners in our current position. I would suggest a football club playing in the Championship with sell out crowds and a waiting list for season tickets would attract much more interest.

But the point people seem to be missing is we're not in a great position currently. People are banging on about what happens when we get in the PL but staying at the Ricoh we have virtually no chance of getting in the PL.
If, when all the options are examined, the Butts is the best option to put the club on a solid footing then surely you do that. If in ten years time its too small and we need to look at moving to a 50K stadium then so be it. At that point we will be a successful team doing a lot for the city so you would hope would get more support from the likes of the council.
People are talking like we're marching to the PL and this will stop us in our tracks.

Get want you are saying, Dave, but the Butts looks fraught with difficulties. You have the surrounding buildings recently built, you have the poor road access, you have the sunken pitch idea, you have Cov rugby not wanting a 25,000 seater stadium and you have the resident opposition that will without any doubt happen and be very vociferous.

Whatever the building of a stadium costs I think we need to add a few million onto the top of that before we have anything like a goer.

I could be wrong and in the lack of any real information and direction from the owners I would suggest that once you have to start excavating land to accommodate the tight surroundings an of the peg modular stadium designed for a brown/green field site becomes unviable. This would suggest that it would have to be tailor made, therefore surely so would any extension at a later date.

I think safe standing would be brilliant. Similar to the Dortmund wall but bit smaller, unambitious I know, but it's a start. Depending on capacity of the other stands, whether one tier or two. The corners could be left out and filled in if required as part of the expansion? Would be easier to get through planning and easier to construct? Or could have corporate in the corners similar to Highfield Road? Would bring in extra income? If it did happen and it's a big if, I hope fans get to have more of a say.

So who do you think is going to contribute to the construction costs, considering what else can be squeezed in around the Butts? What do you think is a realistic figure that CCFC will need to contribute and the chances that our owners will do that. Lastly, you mentioned the word 'financials' in an earlier post and you haven't seen them yet. Running and walking springs to mind. We haven't had a definite word that it's even going to happen let alone seen planning permission, plans and all the other things a project like this needs.

Yes, it would be nice to have our own (would it really be ours) stadium close to the city centre but we don't know yet exactly what anybody is doing and the amount of smoke and mirrors that's been going on in the CCFC saga, I think I'll just wait and see.

You contradict yourself there. You suggest it is about disliking SISU. Then you say people are not happy about a stadium and no SISU.
The reason you are contradicting yourself is because for me it's nothing about liking or disliking SISU. It's about 25k capacity not been big enough if we ever get to where I as a Cov fan feel we should be.
30k stadium in that location or a 20 -25k stadium with the ability to expand to 30 I would be like a pig in sh*t. With the idea.

I don't dislike SISU I dislike a lot of decision they have made and continue to make on behalf of the club.
