Actually the FA cup game may make it look like the boycott is having more of an impact as many won't go anyway

So there will be 5000 journalists turn up to see the boycott and SISU will add them all to the official attendance along with the players, staff, away fans, police, stewards and claiming the boycott a complete failure.

I have just told the nosey old bag next door not to tell anyone it's a secret .so the whole of rugby should know by the end of the week.

Just an idea here and it might not work, but just wondering if Cov Sphinx were playing at home on that day? If so, not only could it be made known that the fans will boycott the cup tie but that they will go elsewhere. May seem very embarrassing to the club for Sky Blues fans to go and support someone else for the day.

The capacity there at Sphinx is only a thousand anyway so it wouldn't take many City fans to go and make up the numbers. I know it's not a lot, but just think it would be an embarrassment for the club. People just don't turn up for the Southampton game and it could be labelled as being too cold/down to the economic situation etc. etc. and could just appear that people just aren't bothered. We need to show that we are bothered!

Think it's either this or City fans turning up outside the Ricoh but not going to the game. Just think that only staying away could be down to a multitude of reasons. Could organise a few to go to Cov rugby too.

You might be on to something there Otis. Personally I'd like to protest outside the Ricoh, but going to Sphinx or the rugby would send out the message that people have the money to attend - but simply refuse.

And let's get on the southamton forums , they don't like Sisu either and I am sure they would join in , after all it wouldn't be much fun travelling all the way up here to sit in an empty stadium

Agreed they dont like SISU but they are top of the league and have every chance of a good cup run, they are not going to stop coming up!!

If we protest outside the ground, when they open the gates after halftime, we could all go in then.
That way they earn no money and we get to watch 15mins of football;)

This only works

If you can get several thoushand season ticket holders who would normally have gone to meet up elsewhere otherwise it just looks like apathetic city fans.

Maybe a slow Ricoh drive past at three o'clock with everyone tooting horns, if you could get a hundred plus vehicles doing that you could come down one side of pheonix way round the island and back up again.

I am struggling with this if i am honest. The thought of the lads (youngsters especially) battling there hearts out against a far superior team to get us a cup run, in front of empty stands with only away support to make noise. Is not a good feeling. On the football side it is a shit draw, however if we had put the WHU performance into the saints game WE WOULD HAVE WON! so maybe just maybe being the cup we could pull it off. On the other side though, I F****n hate SISU and i understand the thinking of it, but a cup run is a bonus, so they would not have expected the revenue anyhow!! So do we boycott and hope it hurts em, or do we support the team......beacuse they DO DESERVE THAT!!

They're the ones who get paid thousands a week.
They shouldn't care who's there, they will find out the reason its empty anyway.

I think the "must support the lads" argument will always be raised but surely the only way to get a message through to SISU is by direct action such as a boycott of one game, that may affect the players for one week. You have to break eggs to make an omelette. If done properly this could get the media attention we need to help get rid of these owners, short term pain for long term gain. If we don't get rid of these people will we have a team to support in a couple of years time.

We need to get behind this folks, I have just emailed Bob brolly as he appeals to the older generation so fingers crossed he may be able to mention it in his programme at some point. Lets get the scum out of our club, this has got to be the start of something positive or we wont have a club to protest about. PUSB

I hear you mate... but I urge you to back this boycott and spread the word. Here's why.
  • It's not about 11 men on a field - it's about the trying to save the club that you ahve supported all your life. Your parents and grandparents alike. It's about making sure that this club is still here in 10 years after being neglected in a chase for areana ownership.
  • The players should respect our fight to bring stability to this football club
  • The players will come and go - they are not Coventry City fans
  • If we were boycotting every game without reason (No effect on SISU) then that would be wrong, but the ST and 1000 or so more are still at the game week in week out - so it's clear to the players that this a statement and does not reflect them.
  • The team plays reserve matches every week with no fans - are you really that important to how they play?

I am all for what your trying to do (bear with me).
But not bringing down what your all trying to do and everyone do what they want to do.
My view on this.
All great intentions but how many will actually do this(brinner will have facts on the last protest he organised)
I have not read the whole of this thread but is it a case of just not go or protest outside the ground?
If it's the latter then this protest will dwindle as soon as it gets close to kick off.
If it is a stay away protest where no-one goes (come on do you really think that will work?
Forums and the like are all very good for spreading the word but the percentage of representation would not be that great I would not have thought.
This is by no-means having a go at anyone wanting to protest just a reality look at it.
In the cold light of day and as it gets closer to the matchday people who say they are not going will go.
If it is a protest outside the ground protesting this will soon dwindle towards kick off.
Does anyone really think sisu will give a toss weather a few hundred are there or not yes a few hundred because that's all it would be.
Protest great and I have nothing against this as I protested myself many years ago with a few friends turned into a one man stand and vowed never to go up again after spending years home and away following cov and it is harder to do than you think not to go somewhere you love to go, saturdays were void without football (close season will tell you that),.
What I am trying to say is that football fans are very fickle and when match day comes and that little buzz starts come 1 o'clock and you know your normally in the pub or whatever just before the match how many are going to actually stay away or protest outside the ground and actually not go in come kick off time.?

The Boycott is a total waste of time as its too far away, protest at the Hull, Bristol City and Brighton games if you want to be heard.

Why do you always try and start a fight with anyone torch? What are you,an internet hardman:whistle:

No, he just voices an opinion contrary to many. He's not a SISU apologist, he just loves his club and is not about to let their presence stop him from supporting. He's not alone, and it is an entirely justifiable stance. I won't be going to Saints, but that doesn't mean I slam people who are.

Calling people "a dick" and worse is a bit much; tell him his opinions are crap in your opnion by all means, but he certainly isn't a WUM and I'm not sure why people are getting that impression.

I am sure Torchy won't be alone - there will be a others who feel the same. We live in a democracy and he is entitled to his opinion just as you are entitled to yours and they can be polar opposites. The one thing to remember above all else is that we are all supporters who love the club, the real "enemy" in all this is SISU. If we spend all our time bickering and name calling amongst ourselves then the only winners will be SISU. Those of us who believe in a boycott and wish to act upon it do it, tell people that your doing it, ask others to join in but respect their decision should they chose not to. This website represents but a tiny percentage of supporters and I am sure if you handed out leaflets about a boycott on Saturday you would get an awful lot more refusing to join in. What is important is that there is a significant enough number not going and/or protesting outside the ground to make an impact and make a point to the board. Remember its OUR club, yours, mine, Torchys' but its not Dulieus or SISU's or some faceless trusts in the Cayman Islands.

Yeah, I remember that pre-match buzz...I think I last felt it before the Reading game last season! Missing a cup game is no great loss to me. But I can see ICHAN's point; even a total-SBT boycott probably won't be noticeable. The key is trying to spread it beyond here.

What will be noticeable is that they can't include the ST's in the figure this week; and there are a lot of ST holders who will not be going. Many of them don't even go to the league games anymore!

I still miss the feeling NLHWC and the great laughs we used to have regardless of the result especially away games going into the pubs in the area, spending nights out in places like barnsley, leeds and the like and having a laugh with locals about how shit or how shit they played.
What I am trying to say is that come 3 o'clock do not be surprised that no-one is protesting anymore because that buzz of going to see YOUR (Not sisu's not deleiu's, not AT'S and not the players) but your's and your's alone team play is sorry but F**K this protest i'm in there, because I know for a fact if I went back to when I used to go up nothing and no-one would have stopped me going in come 3.15 (about the time we used to get in because you used to get your last drink in at 3 :p).
