I don't think any club has a divine right as some insist on saying but lets be fair a large City the size of Coventry and 34 years spent at the top table before our demise surely gives grace to the idea we belong there more than in league one?
We are not that much different to Leicester City in size and stature you might say and if anything probably a little bigger in stature and look where they are now and what they have achieved. A few years ago it was SISU weighing up another club of similar stature (Southampton) before buying us and look where they are.
We seemed to have pulled the short straw!

It will get better..its just been too long that most are beginning to forget or were not even born when we had the wee man at the helm and a certain Robbie Keane!
Exactly !

I took over a business a franchise with the same name, same area restrictions and same office location. If I fail it's great to know I can blame the last owner.

FFS, Sisu took over had a option to run the club within its means and have the same things Wasps have now. The decision made then have caused the situation now 8 years they have to take responsibility of decision they made.
I don't think anyone is trying to admonish sisu of blame, but no-one can deny we were in the shit before they came.

However, a decent owner making the right decisions could have turned thing around, instead they've made things 10 times worse.

That's bullshit and you know it, they may have started the rot but the fucking scum that own us now has more than added to the shit we now find ourselves in, I find it shocking that anybody can say they are not at least as responsible as previous owners, hang your head in shame mate.....
I'm not your mate.

Who got us into £60 million in debt? Richardson.

Who wanted to expedite the building of 'Arena 2000'? Richardson

Who sold Highfield Road? Richardson and co.

Who negotiated a £1.3 million a year lease with ACL? Richardson and co.

Finally, who sold the club to SISU? The white knight Joe Elliott.

You on drugs or something?.... £60m in debt!!! Get a grip ffs!
On 6 October 2007, Paul Fletcher tendered his resignation in the wake of numerous takeover bids being priced out of the market, leaving both Operation Premiership and the long-term financial future of the club up in the air. Then, on 10 October 2007, Geoffrey Robinson resigned as Chairman of Coventry City Football club, stating that he wished to devote his time to pursuing his Parliamentary career. Joe Elliott promptly took over as Chairman on the same day, with rumours rife that the club was close to being called-in by administrators whilst burdened with estimated debts of £38 million. In response to takeover talks, the club confirmed that two consortia, one led by former Chairman Geoffrey Robinson and the other led by former footballer Ray Ranson, had offered takeover bids for the club. Nonetheless, the club filed for administration with a 14 December 2007 deadline to avoid administration by closing a takeover deal.

The club had circa £60m of debt when relegated from the Prem and the first season in Division 1. It was reduced by significant cost cutting including selling the stake in ACL.

Wtf do you mean whats my point... Did anyone force SISU into buying CCFC?.... Were they threatened?... Did they do "Due Diligence" of course they... wait a minute:oops::oops::oops:

They were the council's preferred bidder. So we can add them along with Richardson and SISU to the list.

I think that's put it quite succinctly...

You have no point - they were the councils preferred bidder.

I can't see a top end Championship club emerging from an average league 1 side playing in a rugby club's stadium. Where is the revenue going to be generated from to buy players?

Another analogy for you.... Rolls Royce garage sells a silver cloud to a customer, that customer doesn't look after it properly and sells it to you. Do you blame the man who sold it to you, or blame Rolls Royce garage?

It seems that some posters will genuinely happy when ccfc is shut down.

Why are you worried? you're moving to Italy aren't you. You won't be able to attend games, which will put you in the NOPM class and shouldn't be allowed to make posts like me ;)

You're wrong. Richardson and cronies sold our home and agreed with the council the ridiculous setup at the Ricoh that SISU inherited.

Richardson & co are ultimately to blame for the clubs position. They built up the massive debts, they sold the clubs stadium without a brick of the arena being laid. They then refused to write off debts from board members until it was only SISU left to takeover.
No mate, in your opinion I am wrong, doesn't mean I am, did Sisu not know the situation when they agreed to take us on? The deal may have been shit but they knew the terms before they took over and they still bought us. The minute they walked away to Northampton was the beginning of the end, they could have tried any number of ways to get a rent reduction including getting fans to fight there corner by lobbying local MPs and such like, back then they still had fans behind them, since Northampton all they have are a few morons still claiming they are not to blame.....they took my club away, the club I spent every other Saturday cheering on with my son, gone, just like that.....for fucks sake we are struggling in the third tier of English football and the main reason why is the scum that own us NOW not ten years ago....

What truth? The truth that SISU bought into a basket case when they apparently did "Due Dilligence" and dragged the club down another league and almost into L2 that truth do you mean?

So you are now just choosing to ignore the fact that they were the council's preferred bidder? Why do you think every other club told them to get lost?

Even more reason for them to do "Due Dilligence" then eh? The fact is SISU took CCFC on. It then from that moment became their worry, and nobody elses. FACT

I think every single person is in agreement that due diligence was not done. But then I don't imagine CCC wanted them to...

Thanks but nothing will change between us as they have Internet in southern Europe. <3

Season tickets as well? or will you pay on the gate?
PS... What will happen to that hundreds of pounds you pay to go to the Ricoh to watch them?

SISU own CCFC fact, Not Richardson, Robbins, Singer fc factory. None of them. It's SISU alone who have responsibility of CCFC.... You haven't answered my analogy yet, I'm going to cry if you don't.

Would you rather I call you twat instead? Wasn't actually implying you were a mate it's just a polite term, but who gives a fuck right?
Your another Sisu man then? What your failing to see is that the problems we face today are the stadium deal and the academy, no more no less, we face losing them both and you think that is down to Richardson? He must work for Sisu then because they are the fuckers who landed us in this position, was it Richardson who stopped paying the rent? Was it Richardson who took us to Northampton? Was it Richardson who declared he batters people in court before launching court action? Was it Richardson who alienated the club from the council and other local institutions? If the answer to all of the above is yes then your right, it's all richardsons fault......

You would've been happy with administration in Dec 2007 then?
