Boro fan in peace here.
Mowbray seems to have followed on with you guys the pattern he developed at the end with us - brilliant first half to the season, deplorable second, terrible form carried on into the next season. His teams play relatively attractive football (if sometimes a bit lethargically), but it all comes apart because he cannot adapt quickly enough when his way of playing has been sussed. He has nothing beyond a Plan A.
His recruitment is by and large excellent, indeed several of our first team in the Premier League were total bargain basement buys from the Mowbray days, but he cannot produce consistent results over a full season due to a rigid and often predictable set up, poor man-management and motivational skills and, a surprise from one of the most revered defenders at our club, a poor defensive setup.
I hope he pulls it round with you guys, I really do as despite the poor end to his spell as our manager he is still a club legend. Sadly looking at your current state and your all too familiar fall from grace coming in the second half of last season I really do think the writing is on the wall.
What is worth noting is that through his recruitment and his ability to reduce the wage budget whilst staying competitive in the division (granted only for half a season) it gave us the platform to bounce to promotion. We were in a poor financial situation when he took over with big earning players who were performing below championship standard. He managed to get them off the books and bring through some really good players for absolute pennies. If he doesn't manage to turn results round in a satisfactory way then I hope he at least gives you the foundations that he gave us.
