Possibly. But SISU wouldn't be interested unless Wasps, Higgs,
CCC, the Football League, the CT build it for them, then hand it over FOC.
With freehold, naming rights, 100% of matchday catering and 100% of car parking revenue on the surrounding 25 square miles

Really it needs someone to trawl through the document and even then there are vague references to things that might mean a stadium might be missed. For example, in the infrastructure section of the local plan it says:

"Improvements to the A45, including new roundabouts to provide access to the site" - but it doesn't make clear where this site is or what's on it.

The two following statements are interesting:

"3.17. National policy requires that local plans encourage the effective use of land by re-using land that has been previously developed, provided that it is not of high environmental value. The conversion of existing buildings to support the sustainable growth and expansion of all types of business and enterprise in rural areas and in part to support the transition to a low carbon future is also a strong principle of national policy"

"3.18. Policy GP3 seeks to support the redevelopment of previously developed land but maintain that any redevelopment does not result in an unacceptable impact. Evidence will be required to demonstrate that there are no adverse impacts on any heritage or biodiversity assets on which advice will be sought from the relevant statutory bodies."

So, development of a football stadium on a brownfield site wouldn't be outside the parameters set by the draft plan.

I don't know. This is usually down to an interested party making an enquiry about an identified piece of land.
The party would be SISU, but of course as everyone knows, they are not remotely interested.

There are two parcels of land for development south of the A46 either side of Ryton Bridge. I'd assume this is potentially housing development.
Easily big enough for a football stadium of course. Very much doubt that the well salaried Timmy F has had time to make an enquiry about them though.

Well with the size they are looking at they could buy the old Dunn Cow.
would be an apt name for the new ground as well.

How about Morris Common? I'm not suggesting buying it and developing it....but we could throw a couple of jumpers down for goals and have a kick around?

There is the former built vehicle car park (and overflow) at the former Ryton Assembly Plant. The site is large enough for a cheap off the peg bowl and it might be classed as 'brownfield former industrial land' by a sympathetic council.

According to the draft local plan there are another site in Ryton that looks large enough for a stadium and a training ground combined - it's to the east of the A45, between the A45 and the Organic Gardens. There's also a smaller site on the other side of Ryton (big enough for a stadium, but not a full set of training pitches).

What is the latest with speedway

They have a short stay of execution at Brandon and have identified a site with the aid of RBC as far as I understand that they're working on now. If no further extensions happen at Brandon they'll track share at Leicester in the interim.

I thought Leicester had been discounted as an option?

(I also thought the suggested new site was fraught with problems, too?)

I don't follow the speedway personally but a mate from Swindon who does told me a little while ago that they will operate out of Leicester in the interim. He's a real nerd for speedway, travel's the world watching it, reads everything going etc. and he's pretty well always right on that sort of thing. I'll double check with him though next time I speak with him.

I don't believe that the new site is fraught with problems exactly although there are issues to overcome. Which is what I believe they're working on.
