Some of the criticism of Mowbray is very harsh; yes, he made mistakes, but the club is rotten to the core - and the atmosphere must be horrible.

Our turnover of managers and directors, coupled with our use of short term loan players means there's no continuity or stability at the cub whatsoever. A player looking at us, or another proposition, is every likely to go elsewhere - leaving us picking up what's left. I hope Mowbray, in coming weeks, gives an insight into the real daily workings of the football club

I totally agree the atmosphere at the club must be horrendous.

To be honest although I want the players to do the best they can every game, most must look at the owners and think if they don't give a damn why should I, whilst the better players must be looking to be the next Maddison or Wilson and move on.

Its an absolute disgrace, SISU are beyond contempt and have got to go.

Have you ever though nick he may have been promised one thing then joy and fish face moved the bounderies as they forgot to mention the cost of joys new car and handbag and tm was then told he couldnt shop at waitrose but Oxfam

It's funny you should say that, as I mentioned on another thread that I had heard his budget had been halved for this season. If that was true, or even close to being true, I guess it would depend on when he was told that, to decide if he was going after the wrong players or not.

Tere's no doubt he was up against it, but he made many mistakes. Not knowing what formation to use, getting rid of players before getting in replacements.

Defending them or pointing out the obvious about that statement?

I can quite happily say I'm not employed by them, never have been and never will be.

Tried to get a player who is doing well in the league above us, I could understand if it was the league below.
Anything to deter the blame away from SISU.

Yet he goes out of his way to say it wasn't noticeable when he didn't have to? Very strange. Why would he?

Toeing the company line ?

And yet you can't reply to what was said to disprove it.
Disprove what?, that he chased that one player you keep banging on about, Kevin Wilson? And you know for a fact that he was given a sufficient budget to sign players like him, without even taking into consideration what has been said by countless of others, and Mowbray himself not having the ingredients?

Too many people on here know you'll side with SISU and try and wiggle your way out of it by preaching nonfactual shit.

So why was he chasing him if he wasn't given a sufficient budget? Why wasn't he chasing players he had the budget for?

It is stepping back from being angry and looking at everything.

The kids like Stevenson who has played better than Gadzev?

Or the front 3 of Reid, Tudgay and Sordell with over 500 games between them?

But they are kids.
Look at how Wimbledon last night just launched it through.
The back line was all over the place and I don't think they got caught off side once,
The youngsters are trying to play football but Wimbledon (and other teams) just bully them and they don't know how to respond.
It comes with experience but every team just does the same against us and the kids are learning the hard way.

Yes, look at the striker who was tearing us apart and winning everything. The free transfer who I'd guess demands a lower wage than people like reid.

Wimbledon had a game plan, they don't have amazing championship players but their system is playing to their players strengths.

How do you know whilst he was on trial with us that Mowbray asked about signing him, and was told the budget couldn't afford it, and that's why he went to Rotherham? 50/50 on being right just like you, apart from mine is being realistic when you know who are owners really are!

They must have changed late then as he was still chasing Championship type players in early August wasn't he?

We are in league 1, a good manager would have been all over Oxfam for hidden gems anyway like with Stokes.

To be fair, last season we had three premier league players on loan ( kent, armstrong & murphy ) so his plan worked ok then... cant blame him for trying to do the same again.

And how do we know that he wasnt also chasing lower league targets and losing out on them too ? we dont do we.

At the end of the day some will argue he wasnt, didnt have a plan B & was wasting his time chasing those higher league loans ( the same quality of player that he clearly managed to secure last season & gave us such a great start to last season though ) and some will say that he did the best he could & there are simply so many gremlins behind the scenes at coventry that any manager ( be that experienced / respected / had promotions out of this league? managed at international level or fresh & hungry ) is going to struggle to get things going for anything longer than half a season here, as seems to be the case time after time after time for the last 10 years.... either way, he has gone & the club still appears to be in total turmoil

Surely you would look to see if you could afford him before the trial?

If I knew I had a budget for a Hyundai I wouldn't be out test driving Jags.

I have never said I knew?
Correct you're the same as me and anybody else on here you haven't got a clue what ours or anybody else's budget is. Similarly you don't know if ours was cut and if it was when it was. So just like me you know fuck all so don't come out with this it's not the lowest etc etc because you don't have s clue wether it is or not.

You nor I know exactly what his figures were and when they were given. We'll just guess and presume until otherwise. Either way SISU royally fucked him just like they have every other manager, and it will happen to the next one too, I'd bet my life on it.

He wanted to stay in a job so he said that diplomatically.
Hopefully because he has walked away he might enlighten us and shut the Sisu excusers up once and for all.

I'd say common sense would say it isn't the lowest in the league, wouldn't it?

Let's not all pretend TM hasn't fucked up, he has openly admitted he has fucked up with things like bringing players in. Again, a very strange thing to do if it was because of budget.

I'd put good money on the budget not being the lowest in the league.

I would think that might prove correct, as it was forecast for 2016-17, but crowds being what they are then the SCMP budget must be being squeezed

It also depends on the budget being looked at the SCMP or the company one for the year which dictates what cash is actually available to spend

we might not have the smallest budget but it would seem we have the worst return from budget in the division. Historically Scunthorpe has always been smaller and look what's happened to them ;)
