I'm still reeling from Mowbray's departure, but we have to look forward. Who will be the man to take the sky blues forward? Mark Venus has had a cracking start as caretaker boss with 2 wins out of 2. But is he the man to take charge on a permanent basis? Would you want him to stay on full time? Would he want the job? What could we acheive with him? Thing is, the decision over the new manager will be made by "The Board". So, who exactly are "The Board" apart from Venus and Fisher? Will Venus give it to himself? I still don't think he'll end up being the permanent manager.

My frustration on appointing a new manager is we can as good as right another season off with them inheriting a team they may want to rebuild in their style. So disappointing to find ourselves having to reset so soon in the season, with a long wait until the next window and little chance of any cash influx to support new managers vision. Role on next season ...

I doubt we could find an assistant coach from a prem team willing to take
A probable £500.000 a year pay cut ( OK it's a guess, it could be more)
And that's before you look at the multitude of other issues that would make
Him laugh at us.
I'm not sure of the ramifications if Venus were to get the job whilst being simultaneously a member of the board, would he need to step down first? Given that the board is currently just himself and Fisher (now Andersen has gone) how on earth would they agree on giving him the sack if it called for it when the manager would have a 50% say in the decision?
I think we'll appoint someone new and MV will go back upstairs.

I remember when Micky Adams was manager of Port Vale he was simultaneously a director for a while. I do not know of any rule that prevents this. Of course, if he does become manager, he may for his own reasons choose to stand down from his TD job and board status. We'll have a new Ops Director by then anyway.
If MV is as smart as they say he will wait and hold off taking anything permanent. He and Sisu will feel comfortable with the current situation and don't really need to jump in.
The next appointment that may effect us could be TM next job, MV will be offered a path to follow as the last 20 years have shown. I would be surprised if Sisu make a permanant appointment and spend money on anything or anyone now, when they don't need to.

If MV wants the job then I think its his. Give him 2 more games to prove its no fluke and then sign him up.
People are saying that if Mowbray had stayed then he'd have got the results in the last 2 games. Wrong! Last night in stages we slipped back to holding the ball too long in midfiled and ending up going accross and backwards giving Northampton time to get their shape to defend. This was what we were doing all of the time under Mowbray and although we were keeping posession, we weren't creating many chances. Later in the second half we returned to moving the ball a lot quicker especially through to the forwards and again we started stretching Northampton. This is down to MV seeing where we were going wrong and getting small adjustments to correct the problem. Most of us thought that we weren't a bad side and a lot could see where we were going wrong in out build up play. Venus has worked out the problem in the style we were using and its now working for us.
The system does suit the players now so no need to go through the upheaval of a new manager and new style of play.

2 different boards. The holding company SBS&L Ltd has Deering & Fisher as directors, Otium Entertainment Ltd has Venus & Fisher as directors, now Anderson has resigned..
I would point out 2 people connected with the playing/training side left week

I think that one thing any prospective buyer could offer (and oen thing that SIXU could do to maybe win fans over a bit) would be to simplify the ownership structure so that CCFC is essentially the old CCFC Limited or a new equivilent, which is owned, and owes its debts to, a single SISU company, be that Arvo, Otium, SISU, SBSL, etc etc. Get rid of this confusion web of multiple companies (although doubtless it exists for subtle accounting reasons).
Also, get some more faces on the board like the finance director (if we have one???) and appoint a full time, Coventry-based CEO with full authority and money to spend. This would mean that we are led by a team, rather than a peripheral part-time chairman, and we'd have (hopefully) visible and effective off-field leadership. At the moment the structure is an opaque mish-mash with apparently very few responsible people and a part-time chairman who splits his time between Dortmund and London. No bloody wonder it's not working and people have no confidence in those running the club. It's like we're an afterthought in their busy professional lives.
