Dear
Freedom of Information Act 2000
Thank you for requesting information about Coventry RFC’s lease of The Butts which the
Council received on 19th April 2013. Your request has been considered under the
Freedom of Information Act 2000 ("The Act").
You have requested the following information:
I would like a copy of Coventry RFC’s lease for its ground at The Butts and any
associated letters from the club’s officers. If the club was to move to The Ricoh, can you
please advise on what planning permission would be available for that site? Should the
site not be used for rugby football in the future, does this mean that the facilities would
revert to Mr Keith Fairbrother who gave them to the club free of charge?
Following careful consideration, the information you requested concerning details of
Coventry RFC’s lease of The Butts falls under the exemption(s) in Section 21 of the Act,
which relates to 'information reasonably accessible to the applicant by other means'.
The exemption applies as the information regarding leases and supporting material is
publicly accessible at the Land Registry.
Please visit the Land Registry website at
www.landregistry.gov.uk or contact the Land
Registry customer support team on 0844892111. The lease in this case was dated 21
January 2003 between the City of Coventry Council and Butts Park Venture Ltd.
In respect of your query about planning applications, more details are available via the
Council's Planning Portal, located at:
