Of course they do, but part of the contract is they take the financial risks, but we get % commission on what is sold. Well that's whats been posted on here. Or do you think we get 0%?

i was trying to get thru, however, due to the number of fans phoning in, i failed,
i wanted to ask several questions that arose from the phone in,

how do you achieve that when you sell a home grown product at a ludicrously low price ?

I'm not so sure. If you do some back of a fag packet maths
Rental £70k
Staffing £70k (probably more than that)
Initial stock £20k
Utilities £2k
= £162k
£40 adult shirt less vat £32.*
£162k ÷ £32 = 5062 adult shirts to break even, that before you've probably paid more than the £20k stock to purchase them, plus you have to replace stock too.
I doubt we are losing significant revenue by franchising it, not with current crowd levels anyway.
Anyone any idea how many items of merchandise are purchased per annum?
*yes I know there is a wider range of merchandise than adults shirts

We could only take a % and not 100% of it anyway as it has significanf running costs that need to be paid for before you have usable profit that can be diverted into supporting the team.
I'd say the current set up controls stock far better and although the shop looks pretty well stocked they seem to rub out quicker and as they don't over order stock you dont see massively discounted items in the summer like we did when ccfc did it.
I'm not even saying I think its a good thing, just that I can understand why, if the shop had high costs and low profits, the club would do this.

I really like the idea of fan ownership.
In all likelihood it will never happen, and I can see the many potential problems and pitfalls, but I think the fans having some sort of say in the future of the club would be a great thing after everything we've been through.
Yes, we would still have to be self sufficient, we would have to still sell our best players, but we've always done that, long before sisu came, including my first Sky Blue hero Ian Wallace, but for me it would be acceptable if it meant having people who care about the club and who had a vision at the helm.
However, I don't buy this theory that wasps and CCC are suddenly going to bend over backwards to form partnerships with the club after sisu have gone.
wasps have their own interests to look after, and as much as I don't like them and wish they weren't here I can understand that.
CCC only look out for the interests of CCC, they don't care about the people they were elected to serve or the Citys institutions.
So IMHO, the day sisu go won't be a bright new dawn, it will just mean we have cleared the first and biggest hurdle to a bright new dawn but there will still be many left ahead of us.

In any serious attempt to buy CCFC the problem of security of tenure would have to be addressed beforehand. We saw what happened with SISU. Their biggest mistake was not negotiating with ACL before buying the club.
No point in buying until you either have a deal with ACL ( owned by Wasps ) or an alternative site to play at.

When Presley's team was flying we had record low attendances as Sisu had moved us to Northampton. That decision alone is a reason why many have left and not come back.

I haven't read through all of this thread yet so apologies if someone else has mentioned these points. I was pleased Venus came on and was prepared to take a bit of flak. It does make me wonder however why they are talking now after months of silence. Is it because they are trying to counteract the growing movement against them? Without on field success this season, I think season ticket sales will collapse next year. How will the model of sustainability cope? You can't blame the fans because everyone has the choice to buy into something or not. If they do not buy into the Sisu vision for the club and also what they have seen on the field, they have a right to walk away, many already have.
I was really disappointed that Venus didn't take the opportunity when asked to say that the club would do all in it's power to never move from Coventry again. I realise he can't say it will never be moved. His readiness to answer that, yes, he would move with the club was I thought disturbing. From the quickness of his reply it seems that discussions with Fisher and friends have probably taken place about another move. He didn't seem to realise that if such a thing happened it would surely be the end for CCFC. Can he not see, or perhaps he doesn't want to, that the biggest stumbling block to City staying in Coventry are Sisu and their legal actions?

I can see your point but I don't really know what else he could say. He's employed to manage the football team, not dictate where they play.
You're right to say the fact that he didn't deny it sounds like it's still on the agenda which is worrying.

Statements coming out of the club and SISU frequently change are often contradictory, are never backed up by hard evidence and can sometimes be interpreted in a disturbing manner.
I find the situation wholly unpalatable.

Let me see now! My main income comes from my job with CCFC I have a wife and family a mortgage to pay and bills and I am being told that I have to move with my job or leave? What would I do? I would move with the job and look for another job in the mean time. It's called responsibility a lot of what I don't see with the youngsters of today

Or my main income is with CCFC. I have a wife and family, NO mortgage owing to my being in a football dictated life of which I've been paid wages over the 20 or so years that the average working man would have to work a lifetime to realise. Do I move? or do I say f**k you I'm comfortable for the rest of my life having my own Property Developement Company to fall back on, and not only that I've got a responsibility to my customers(Fans) to think about.

Surely it depends on the circumstances. If wasps say sorry we won't do a deal and kick the club out of the Ricoh at the end of next season and we were forced to temporary ground share, thats a lot different to choosing to permanently relocate the club in Wycombe. I imagine any talks thr board have had, is around the first scenario.
