Still just city fans though.
What about if I don't like to identify as a City fan for fear of ridicule?
Still just city fans though.
To use an example, when I was at school and being bullied for being a 'skinny c***' it would break my heart but when I got older and decided I was happy with being skinny and actually found it cool the same words which were meant in the same way no longer affected me

From why I understand, lesbian is a woman who finds women attractive; gay is a man who finds men attractive and queer relates to people that don't fall into these categories, or don't wish to be identified as such. For example a trans relationship or an individual who doesn't feel like they're adequately categorised by the above terms...e.g. Someone who finds it difficult to identify as a man or a woman...

A lot less so though. If people get used to largely hearing or using a word in a more positive sense it takes away a lot of the power when someone snarls the same word at them. That's not to do with you reclaiming a word though.
Just because somebody says "no, this word is ours now" it doesn't mean when said it isn't offensive to some people still.
aj nick is a dinosaur.
aj nick is a dinosaur.
live and let live i say
we all think our way is best but we cant control others. let people make their decisions and be accepting even if dont agree,

Nobody has said they are against it, if anything they are the ones saying live and let live.
It isn't like anybody is giving it the "oh no, we dont want a gay club with our team". It is more "why? who cares if people are gay watching us?" which is accepting.
I just had to Google what the heck LGBTQ meant. (I'm a bit fick!), and have to say, I care not a jot about anyone's race, sex, gender, or whatever. Pointless thread really.
didnt you post a swastika once?

.....I agree with Nick with regards this "reclaiming the word" malarkey.....
....it appears to me that its more divisive if anything......its okay for certain groups to use the word, but if someone from outside of that group uses it, it is still as offensive & inflammatory as ever.
....with permission Nick, can I test this theory......you big que*r ni**er

You can be a funny c**t sometimes!However....upon reflection, I suppose if my mate calls me a c**t, its banter, whereas if some random calls me a c**t, he's highly likely to get a rather swift & direct reaction.....
Err....I dunno......I've confused myself now.....
It's like we can say Cov are shit, but if a Leicester fan says it they can get fucked.
Sort of.
Please enlighten me?didnt you post a swastika once?
Yep.Pointless to who, you?
Very interesting but I tend to be on the side that segregation doesn't work. The minute you do that you elevate them to be targets in the public sphere?
It's very different to have say an LGBTQ group gathered for specific purpose like a cruise where all passengers are LBGTQ enjoying their own company where they can be themselves without public scrutiny as opposed to being in the spotlight at a public football match. As Nick has said we are all City fans and accepted as such. Gender, ethnicity or whatever has no part to play.
Now if the LBGTQ group was formed to meet before and after games in the same way say a ladies group would meet, that may succeed as an idea but please don't suggest they be segregated as if to suggest they were 'different' in a world that has long accepted gay and lesbian folk as a standard within society.
While an LBGTQ group would not offend me I just think the wish to single yourselves out is crating the problems you may encounter not help them?

Considering that you say that you are not from one of these so called 'groups' have you asked anyone if they would be interested in joining?Totally agree that segregation doesn't work but this would designed to promote inclusion, as these groups often are...

Most of them just want a normal life. They don't want to promote the way they live their life. Of course you have those that are loud and proud. But it isn't the norm.
I have known a fair few people over the years that could fit into what you are saying. But most wouldn't want it. Most people just want to be seen as they are. Normal. It is other people that don't see them as normal. I have neighbours that are gay. Two of the nicest men you could ever meet. Would do anything to help anyone. All they want is to be seen as normal because they are.

.... I don't see why people need to group themselves off.
Yep.
