No. Stadium is too big and we are too poor to buy it or create a team that will fill it.

Wasps bought a piece of real estate no one else wanted. If us not owning the Ricoh is damaging (and I don't think it is for reasons stated) then it was our choice not to go after it that did the damage.

If I choose not to buy an umbrella, it's not the guy who does buy it's fault I get wet.
Was that nobody wanted it or was it didn't want to pay the full asking price?

Or was it ever for sale?

No they bought a football stadium built for the Club we support remember. Were we ever offered a 250 deal at the same price? Not that you'll care. SiSU OUT!!

3) there's already a main tenant at the arena who needs all the naming rights themselves.

No chance.

How many times have you said that? Shop in the concourse for instance. Never happen according to you.

There may well be a main tenant but it's their tenant (CCFC) who can bring the main exposure and increase the potential revenue from that. This is what's happened with West Ham. They dont get all the naming rights but they do get some and it's been directly attributed to the increased value that they brought to the table by being a tenant at the stadium. They have a rental agreement not so different from our's (match day use only and no income from other events) plus the right's to the revenue streams on match days and naming rights. All things that could be negotiated under the right circumstances. Circumstances that dont seem to include SISU.

What did we try to negotiate after we were invited to and AL went to see JS on the train? Who's fault is that. We were never going to get offered a deal that was negotiated under a confidentiality agreement. Why you keep perusing this line of nonsense is beyond me.

Have you actually read the contract was ham have? It's nothing like ours and the stadium owner isn't a sports franchise so the comparison is irrelevant.

As for naming rights we have no influence on that at all and we are a league one club. The only chance of having a really rights deal is as a premier league club. Given these deals last 10 years what do you think wasps will do - tie up a deal and if we end up in the premier league lob a bit our way?

“If this matter cannot be resolved by the turn of the year, then I and all of my colleagues on the Labour group on Coventry City Council will look to put in place a process which ensures the best possible deal for the people of Coventry in relation to the Ricoh Arena.”

This for me was the turning point.
This is when we should have bid if we were serious.
Unfortunately I think we felt the council had no other options so we only had one to plan to starve out ACL (IMO)
It was that decision that caused this damage and let Wasps in.

Because it makes me angry we have been locked out our own stadium for 250 years. Regardless if you think it is all SISUs fault that fact should annoy all CCFC fans.
Not you or Schmmeee or Italia because all you care about is SISU. CcFC just happens to be collateral damage. I'm done with you and those like you to be honest. Dont reply as i will ignore it and you anyway.

Can't be doing with the pathetic little excuses anymore.

Unfortunately they'd already sold to wasps well before then

Are you putting your name forward in the leadership election Tony?

What about when we came back and CCC hinted at future ownership?

Despite SISU there was no excuse to sell the stadium to Wasps. Remember Lucas saying no team should be ripped from its community. She obviously didn't mean Wasps.

I wont go into her statement regarding only agreeing to sale as she'd had assurances indigenous teams wouldn't be adversely affected.

Pardon my French but that was bollocks although I'm sure you can spin it differently.
When we came back Tim Fisher immediately said that it was temporary and that we were still building our own stadium. Council at fault or Sisu at fault?

Yes of course renting the stadium will damage the club. We can blame sisu all we want but selling to wasps was the final nail in the sky blue coffin that will almost certainly be irreversible.

1) we now no longer have the option to buy in and acquire to acl/Ricoh. That damages us by
A) we will continue to not have access to the revenues we need (talk of the west ham model is poppycock IMO, its completely different scenario)
B) it will put off any decent owner. Who would want to own a club who has no assets and gets no income from the stadium?
C) the bonds, bond interest, on top of wasps priorities means that it is almost impossible the club will have an opportunity to buy 50% at any stage.

2) competition for customers
3) competition with youth engagement and getting enticing new young fans
4) without revenues it firmly puts up a glass ceiling and almost certainly limits us to a championship-league one yoyo club at best. Pretty much every expert agrees that the revenue model doesn't work above league one. Yes, someone couod chuck in £13m pa in trying to get out the championship, but who's going to do that when they have no assets? Any new owner will want some level of infrastructure in place in order to entice them to invest in the club.

Both.

SISU weren't forced to negotiate like a bunch of cunts.

CCC were not forced to sell to Wasps like a bunch of cunts.

Or does anyone think that they could put a case forward for either side without making themselves look a c**t?

That statement was October 2013
What date did they sell to Wasps?

Talks with derek Richardson started a year before that about acquiring the property I would say.

Spot on stupot. Everything that SISU had done, no matter how bad, was reversible to that point. New owners could have come in and there could have been a brighter future. Now we either have the next 250 years making do with what scraps Wasps will throw our way or someone has to stump up millions for a new stadium.
Said it before unless you were a CCFC fan you wouldn't even consider buying the club over any other club in the country.

I voted.
But the question should have been because CCFC never bought it.

I haven't read the West Ham contract. I doubt you have either. These things tend to be confidential. Only know what's been disclosed to the media and that is pretty much as I've described it.

The comparison isn't irrelevant. Regardless of it's a sports franchise or not both parties need to maximize revenue. It's the crux of their business so the comparison is totally relevant.

Of course we have an influence on naming rights. We give the Ricoh exposure and that is the point of naming rights. No I don't expect Wasps to "lob a bit our way" if we reach the premier league. Same as l don't expect West Ham to hand any back if they get relegated. Why do you talk such nonsense.

So do you think that if we had not left the Ricoh, and paid our rent like obedient tenants that CCC would have courted a purchaser for ACL.. assuming a deal couldn't be done between CCFC and the council?

That would be about the time you were insisting it was a worthless white elephant that no one would be interested in while laughing at people for suggesting that a Rugby team might be interested in it in reply to you saying it was a worthless white elephant that no one would be interested in. Have you ever been right about anything ever?

Precedent for the Wasps deal being made public that, too.

Surprised Les Reid hasn't been on it tbh.

honestly Tony I give up - either you are wumming or really ignorant on how contracts work - I'm done on this one.
