I hate needles. Really make my skin crawl, but I just turn my head the other way and think of Amy Pond naked.

Just seen this. Sorry to hear it Torch, Im sending you virtual hugs/handshakes depending on your preference.

Keep your head up and enjoy yourself as much as you can. All the research shows positivity helps and I know so many stories of people defying doctors or getting miracle cures, remember nothing is set in stone.

All the best man.

It's not that bad, I've got used to it now and like Otis just look the other way when the nurse says "you'll just feel a little scratch." It was the one in my groin that I wasn't looking forward to, but that was ok actually.

How's he going?
Still go up?
I don't think he has for a while now. I used to give him a lift every now and then. We still discuss footy at work and I know he comes on here to browse every now and then but I don't think he logs in anymore.

Shame.
I think he was right about hedge funds
Decent contributor on here, I reckon he'd agree that Venus should go!

He does. I saw him yesterday when I went in and handed over my latest sick note.

Hmm, in the word association game, I think Keith O'Neill

There have been a few, haven't there? He's a pretty good example though. We have Kwame this year, of course.

Wow, Torchy, so sorry that ive only just come across this thread!

Pleased that as the thread has gone on it appears to be a bit more positive than the original prognosis mind! Albeit, a bit.

Wishing you all the best (and as you requested above, ill offer a hug......although if it was only from one poster in particular, you can refuse to accept it; I wont be offended :) )

Only just spotted this Torch
Nick, well as I said before I'm not much of a worrier and I meant it when I said things could be worse. A few weeks ago I was sitting in my pants in a hospital gown waiting for my CT scan. I sat next to this bloke dressed the same as me. We got talking like you do. He was in his late sixties and said that he had terminal lung cancer which had spread to his liver and other organs. He was dead calm and sad all this matter-of-fact. He said he has always smoked and drunk too much, he lived on his own with his dog and had no family. He said the only thing that made him said was the thought of not being around for his dog. After the scan he said he was going down the pub. Things could definitely be worse for me which is why i am positive . And bone marrow transplants happen every day so I'm not too worried about that, only issue is i will be in hospital for at least a month.

As for SBP. I do have that. I had kept meaning to cancel but I'll keep it now as it'll come in handy when I'm in Hospital in Brum surrounded by Blues and Villa fans!
Sorry Torch, only just caught up with this thread. As you said, news like this really does put everything else in perspective.
All the best for February but not sure SBP will be a calming influence. Maybe take your headset and listen in to those ITC classic tracks!
Best wishes to you and your family throughout.

Like Ranjit I only noticed this thread a moment ago. You seem to be surrounded by love (especially your stepdad). Good luck with your mission Agent Torch. Remember you are 'Our Man in Birmingham.'

Sorry Torchy, (Simon), I've only just caught this thread. I too, posted recently that I'd just had my 4th heart attack. Life sucks eh? At least we're both still on the right side of the grass! I also see the world differently to what I used to. I take the time to actually look around me now. I'm fortunate that I live on the Isle of Wight, a beautiful place to look around and spend time just doing nothing. There's always something different to see here. I've decided to buy a decent camera and take up photography as a hobby, and record all the great things I've seen. It just seems right somehow.
I still get out and about, although a bit slower. Believe me, 4 bloody heart attacks buggers your fitness up!
Anyway mate, take care. Keep us informed on here as to how things are with you. There's a lot of really nice and decent posters on here as I found out lately.
All the best HH (Baz)

Yeah, the world is a different place isn't it when something serious happens to your health. It's all a bit of a blow at first but then it becomes the new normal. I can't imagine what life was like without it now. Only been to the IOW a couple of times, once in 83 and once in 84 when I used to go on the scooter runs there. I remember it being very nice. We actually camped where the speedway stadium is now - or was. Can't remember what it used to be called. It just used to be dirt track in those days.

Why not post some of your photos in a photo thread?

The speedway stadium just outside of Ryde is called Smallbrook stadium. There's still an annual scooter rally.
I haven't yet purchased a decent camera yet - that's my aim for early next year - but I have loads of pictures I've put up previously. I'll dig some out and put them up again.

Smallbrook, that was it. That was the name of it even back then. There was nothing there, just a field and a dirt oval track. Will have to dig out some of the pictures.

I appreciate I am late to the conversation and I do not regularly interact with you Torch, but I came across this thread tonight, which generated instant sympathy (really hope that doesn't sound patronising) and worry for a fellow SBT'er, but was also apt timing.

Your positivity is reassuring and inspiring. I'm a positive person and remain strong for others, but sometimes, especially the lonely middle of the night times, it's a little more difficult. Both my mum and girlfriend were diagnosed with incurable illnesses this year, both with different levels of severity, but both out of the blue.

To hear you are going through what you are, yet remaining positive (and still finding time to post about Coventry!!) is fantastic and inspiring to read.

Thank you for sharing.

I wish you all the best.

Let me know when you are looking for a camera. I should be able to point you in the direction of an interest free deal for a DSLR from a client.

Thanks SB. I have my heart set on a Nikon D3300 DSLR which with a separate zoom lens is priced at £405 in Curry's. If you can better this then I'd be interested! ;)

Hey GE

Thanks for that. You have it a lot worse that I have, I can't imagine what you are having to go through. Makes what is happening here very insignificant.

All the best
