i observe a growing unity from certain posters on here with the fringe mentality on the CT site.

Namely, there is a growing view they purchasing season tickets is a way to put money into the owners and to support the owners. We are told we need to be aware of our actions and that by taking the action of purchasing a ticket we are keeping sisu here.

Sadly outside of this bubble there lived a lot more normality towards watching football matches.

This season I sit next to a rather engaging couple in their 80's who've supported the club for as long as they can remember. They are very engaging and very much ccfc fans. Also near to me is a chap who is also in his 80's - looks younger - who gets dropped off and picked up by one of his children every game.

These supporters are going to renew next season - well as one of the couple said "as long as we are not dead"

The other elderly chap says it's his day out.

I've never really engaged in a conversation with them about sisu. They wouldn't, I suspect, be interested. Perhaps next Monday I should tell them there are people who are called "Covfan" "Dongonzalos" and "gosford green" who believe they are wrong to renew and they should think of the long term and at least need to know what they are doing. I suspect they'd think I'd lost my mind and ask if I wasn't feeling well.

The point is most people out of here don't think endlessly about NOPM, the principals and the thought of paying for Joy Seppalla's new handbag. Oddly they just want to spend 90 minutes watching a game of football.

No politics, no ulterior motive, no feeding a hedge fund. Just a continual enjoyment of the simple game.

Something I think some in here should take heed from.

I am not saying to anybody don't go but I am choosing to spend my money elsewhere, the worry you should have is I am 41 and my older boy is starting to get interested in going and he is the future, no offence to the people you are talking about their time is limited and they also only pay a percentage of what I pay. It would be interesting to see the ages of the people going and those choosing not to renew.

Also I want to see a winning team and not the rubbish these owners serve us up.

We have all had the same seats as long as the City have been at the Ricoh. 6 of them even had ST at sixfields 1 also has a Wasps ST.
I know of only 2 renewing their tickets next year.
One has already stopped going her husband now comes on his own.

I agree it might be great to spend Saturday afternoon at the Ricoh if you have nothing better to do. For me it's no longer a pleasure
Yes, I have disdain for the owners and Fisher but my real issue is lack of enjoyment.
If you ask the missing thousands the majority will say the same. Put out a winning team who play good football with passion and create an atmosphere and the fans will return
Nobody was complaining early last year when AA was knocking goals in for fun.

A lot harder to go when your peer group stop going.

Mind you, if/when (i.e. not under these owners but that's because of inept club management rather than principle) we start winning again, sure a lot of us will be back.

It's the endless circle mind, where a small, small minority think they speak for everybody when it comes to NOPM being the reason for people not going, and I thought better of the OP than to give them as much credence as he seems to. The best thing the rest of us, if we go or not, could do is to recognise it's a (very!) small number who are actively boycotting. Of those, I'm pretty sure some of them just use it as an excuse because for some bizarre reason they're too ashamed to admit they'd rather sit around in their pants drinking the latest BrewDog beers while watching Lizard Lick Towing on Dave.

We've all been able to dream that this could be our year though. Every year since 1972 I have started the season with that thought. Who on here can say that now.

You could do that but then you would be lying to nice quality Cov fans in their 80's. I wouldn't have the cheek to judge them and to tell them what to do. I would just respect them for their loyal support.
It's one thing to come on here and tell lies under your pysdonyn. You really shouldn't do it to nice people like that though to their faces.

Tell them that I am gutted to say that I now think the quickest way SISU will leave is if season ticket holders did not renew next year and people did not attend.
I think by September we would be put into administration.
Tell them that I won't pass comment if they don't want to do that and still want to attend. That's their decision which should be always respected.
Tell them that unlike you I will not judge them and write threads attacking them because their opinion differs to mine and I personally am now choosing a different route.
Also buy them a cup of tea at half time they deserve it.
Just don't lie to them in order to win Internet points it's quite sad,
Also for what it's worth I don't think a penny is going to SISU other than remuneration in whatever form for the owners and employees.

Yeah, a day out at the dentist having teeth pulled with no anaesthetic.

This guy might still be enjoying it, but clearly growing numbers are not. The off field stuff is impinging on the on field stuff.

We have no ground, soon to maybe not have a worthy academy, are in perpetual decline and now pretty much getting knocked out of cups early on, having really bad mid season slumps, keep selling our best players, are told cuts may be necessary making it even less likely we can get out of this division in the right direction, have owners who are pretty much universally disliked, having to endure poorer and poorer atmospheres as the attendances dwindle and fans are are giving up on their club in numbers.

I still have a season ticket and I still love my club, but it is getting increasingly painful going up and before when defeats would spoil my weekend, now they're doing nothing more than creating a shoulder shrug from me.

Where is the optimism? Where is the future?

With every season I have renewed hope and believe that maybe this could be our year. For the first time now though, after listening to Fisher talk, I will enter into a season merely expecting us to survive. No ambition, no excitement, just drudgery ahead.

The way I feel now I will not be getting a season ticket and that will be the first time in an absolute age. I have been going up man and boy since the late 60's.

I used to be so excited about going to watch the City. Going up and supporting the club I love and going into every game with optimism in my heart. I would go rain or shine, well or not well.

Missed my brother's own wedding to go and watch the City. Would walk for two hours to get to a game.

Now if I have the slightest flu I don't attend. Yeah enthusiasm has gone. The excitement is gone. I reckon now we are lucky to get more than 4 or 5 good games of football a season here at the Ricoh.

It has become colder and soulless, but that is because the team has consistently failed, people don't have faith in the owners doing the right thing for the club and they are walking away from it.

It's all very tragic and one man's day out is another thousands day of gloom and dullness.

For every one man you talk of there must be a thousand who think the complete opposite.

The future is looking very, very glum.

If we got relegated this season, but I thought we could compete at the right end of the table I would be there again with my ST, but I think most of us believe that if we did get relegated we would merely be set up to try and survive in League Two. Repeat ad nauseum.

Until we get new owners this club is going absolutely nowhere other than downwards.

There is a difference in the mentality and a bit of a range.

There are people who are just fed up of shite football, people who have found they enjoy going to play golf more and have done it and I can totally understand it.

What I don't get is the "starve the club" or as Dave says the whole "scab" thing or doing it to be a moral hero and telling everybody every 5 minutes in every thread possible.

What a patronising way to make a point. Do people stop having views when they get past eighty then? My Dad, a lifelong City supporter, was 89 when he passed over 3 years ago. I can assure you that even at 86 he would have been very much interested to chat with you about what was happening to his club.

I bet they are being ripped off by their gas supplier and insurance company as well, because they just keep renewing. I cancelled Sky recently and during the cancellation process the offers went from 55 a month, 45, 38 and eventually 22 quid a month. I still cancelled, just like BT who hiked my subscription from about 12 quid to 19. When I cancelled they said I could stay at 12 quid...I told them to stick it as they tried to rip me off and their marketing department had got it wrong. No, I haven't missed it either.

In today's world you get ripped off for loyalty.

Your post is all rather quaint Grendel. I hope those people enjoy their Saturday entertainment next season. It is not for me to dictate how they spend their money.

But I suspect from what is a luxury outlay for them, they do deserve a better return. The fact remains the club can be better run even within sensible constraints. The current owners have proved consistently they are incapable of achieving this. Those fans Grendel and I include you in this, deserve better.

Grendel....how about answering posts like this instead of waiting for one where you can have a dig at someone.

The vast majority of people who stop going will do so because of what is happening on the pitch. We are becoming a joke. Even Division 4 sides are outplaying us. A large amount of our supporters do not live in Coventry.

Do you know what it is like to travel a long way to a game to not have your own team look as though they don't give a shit? And as you know from the home games it is a frequent event this season. We have season ticket holders that travel over 100 miles each way to games.

So a few say that they won't be going because their money goes to SISU. So you try to say it is the masses saying it. What most are saying is they are not going to waste their time and money on the utter dross we are presently getting. Most will be back when there is an improvement. But many don't see an improvement happening until SISU are gone.

Funnily enough as I started this thread another is trying to "out" supporters who will go next season. Perhaps that poster should issue as all with pajamas and a star so "they know who we are"
