Well no drugs trial. All starting to kick off now. We're getting ready for probably my last game of the season. Will fill you in on all the gory details later.

Anyway, a break from Whistlegate.

So, went to see the consultant in Heartlands in Brum on Friday. He told me about the rarity of the leukaemia again and what they planned to do. This Friday will have the Hickman line put in, then next week or maybe the week after will go into Walsgrave for a week or so for some intensive chemotherapy. Hopefully, they've got Wifi!

Then I will be having the bone marrow transplant in Heartlands and will be there for a month or so. The good news is they have two potential matches for the donor. One in the UK and one in Germany.

My white blood cells are unfortunately not playing ball and are on the increase, so was feeling pretty shit last week and this. However, I was determined to go yesterday as it might be my last game of the season. Just glad it is all starting to happen now.

December was a nothing month really with me just being at home taking the drugs. I'd almost forgotten I was ill, so all the recent consultant appointments have reminded me how serious this is! Gulp.

As a side issue all the haematology consultants in Heartlands are Greek so thank God for immigration in the NHS!

Well said! And the very best of luck. Hopefully the City can go on a winning run to raise your spirits and maybe a Wembley trip might have you fighting fit again real soon.

More prayer required methinks. ;-) God bless, pal, your positivity is admirable indeed.

Oh, I can exclusively reveal what the name of the thing I have is. Unfortunately, the guy at Heartlands kept mentioning it, so I remembered it. I hadn't before.

It's: myeloproliferative neoplasm FGFR

Snappy, eh?

Just seen this for the first time today. Puts my problems into perspective.

It is amazing what they can do these days. Last year it wasn't looking good for my sister. She found a very small lump. They did a biopsy. It suddenly multipled in size in just days. It was extremely aggressive. She had stage 3 cancer. But now she has recently got the all clear. The treatment wasn't nice. But it has made her a stronger person. And all this was whilst we lost 6 members of our family within 12 months. But I do look good in her new wigs :D

Just keep your chin up. I know it isn't easy. But before you know it you will be getting better.

We will have to sort out a bit of a party when you have your last treatment :)

Just had a call from the consultant. Definitely going in for the chemo next week, but could be up to a month in hospital. I had the choice of Heartlands in Brum or University in Cov, so chose Cov.

That certainly trumps my genetic disease; Pseudoxanthoma elasticum not that I am comparing severity, merely the name)

Good luck Torch - and I'll be sure to post some pics from the Checkatrade cup final at Wemberley.

Just read this for the first time. Would like to wish you all the best... at least you can read all sorts of crazy opinions on here to pick you up and the delightful tones of Geoff Foster and Clive Eakin on a Saturday afternoon.

Thanks Steve. Another bit of a blow today, been signed off work for another six months, although it could be longer.

Hanging around waiting for the call whether it is tomorrow or Tuesday. They have wifi though so you haven't got rid of me just yet. Apparently the chemotherapy will make me feel shit so my posts may make even less sense than normal.
