Would agree with Otis on Bigi / Gadzhev. Whilst bigi was fairly poor he did put a few good tackles in, whilst Gadzhev is still to show me why he should play conference football let alone league one. Thought I'd do some match ratings
RCC - 6.5 largely untested, made a mistake coming out but made amends with a good save. Handling was pretty solid, and some good distribution.

DKE - 7 what he lacks in stature he more than makes up for in desire. Can only ask a player once selected to give their all & he certainly does. One very good block with score at 2-0

Stokes - 6.5 looked solid, good 45 minutes for him, were barely tested in first 45

Harries 7 - so comfortable on the ball and for a slight guy is strong and brave in the air and the tackle. Big future.

Haynes 7 - got forward really well, still question marks defensively but he's improving. Superb goal.

Jones - 8 great running with the ball. Managed to use his right foot for Thomas'! And was involved in the first. Ran tirelessly, deserved a goal.

Lameiras 7.5 - he did give the ball away too much but he was also involved in a lot of the positive stuff we did. Think in that kind of player you're always going to be frustrated with some of his decisions. Good nights work in general.

Bigi - 5.5 usually a more positive Bigi fan but was ineffective tonight. He actually was probably better tackling than passing which is rare for him as he's not the best without the ball.

Gadzhev 4 - generous

Thomas - 7.5 worked tirelessly, rewarded with a goal. Similarly to Lameiras, few poor decisions but overall positive display.

Beavon - 8 what work rate. Involved in everything, wins a lot in the air for someone of his height. Looking like hell be a fan favourite. Also deserved a goal.

Finch - 6.5 thought he acquitted himself well bar a 10 yard pass to their centre forward that I have no idea what he was thinking.

Tudgay - 5.5 chested the ball, held up a bit but usually gave it away

Stevenson - N/A not on the pitch for long enough to make an impact. Hope it's not the last we see of him.

Slade - 8.5/10 thanks for some positivity Russell! Thought he might have brought Stevenson on ten minutes earlier as we were getting overrun for a fifteen minute spell but overall a comfortable victory.

Don't you mean Roberto?

The O doesn't matter, it's his plain alter ego.

Don't ruin it. It's this:

He got stuck in against west ham too against a big bloke, think he did a first team game too.

He really doesn't give up. I think he is one of those whose mental determination will raise them above their natural ability (if that makes sense)
Hope he gets more chances and I hope Haynes does aswell.

Like Dennis Wise. A good player. But his commitment took him to the top.

Let's not get too carried away with the Dame Kelly-Evans comments. This was a game against academy players after all. He did play very well mind.

How I would rate last night...

RCC - 6. Safe hands for the most part, but still suffers from a rush of blood to the head at times.

DKE - 7. Coped very well against a very tall, quick, left sided midfielder and played the ball with calmness and assurity from the back.

Stokes - 7. Only one half of course, but he was very solid and strong and it was great to have him back.

Harries -7. Very assured performance from him. Intelligent and was always trying to pass the ball out of the defence rather than just hoof it downfield. Some of his passing went awry, but I still think it was a commanding performance from him.

Haynes - 6. Really good coming forwards. As has been said before, maybe further up the pitch suits him, rather than the fullback role.

Bigi - 5. Disappointing effort from him, though he did put in a couple of good tackles and had a scorching shot very well saved and another goalbound effort blocked.

Ghadzev - 3. Pointless. Ambled about like it was a training game and showed nothing at all.

Thomas - 8. Excellent effort from the youngster. Held the ball up really well, showed a great deal of intelligence in his movement and runs and was rightly rewarded with a fine finish for the goal he bagged.

Jones - 7. A constant threat to the Brighton back line.

Lameiras - 6. Another frustrating game from him. He did some very good work, but then ruined everything by losing the ball too often and making the wrong choices.

Beavon - 7. A very intelligent and hard working performance from the new striker. Rarely lost the ball, got in good positions and was a constant nuisance to to the opposition. Carries this on and he's going to prove to be a great buy for us.

Just noticed that the semi final is not over two legs this year, but a single game at the home of the first team drawn...

BUT anyway, can we now ban any more talk of Wembley so as not to upset the Football Gods. - Remember Crewe? People were booking hotels weren't they? No talk of ticket allocations or coach prices, let's take the Jimmy Greaves '87 approach - we're going to lose the next game so it doesn't matter.

Got to be worth a few quid at that price... or wait till Thurs draw?
Anyone at home basically. Even under TM/MV we have had a decent home record this season, so anyone at home would be great.

Semi-final would be great to get someone like Bradford or Oxford. Would want to beat the best out there.

Slightly odd observation. Our attendance for last night 2,085. Attendance v Northampton in same competition was 2,085. Was it the same 2,085 of us there?

No, cos Gary two doors down had a cold last night and couldn't make it.

Anyone else fancy a away game where hopefully it will be more like a league game with over 6/7K in a league two ground and better atmosphere as the competition hots up. Baring Yeovil that is....
Rather than 2 maybe 3k in the soulless Ricoh.

I would quite like Cheltenham away for that reason. Not too far, fairly good turnout maybe? they're lower league 2 etc. However I imagine we'll be getting a lot more than 2 or 3k in next round with the prospect of a Wembley trip on the horizon

You'd like to think we can market a home tie better to appeal to getting more fans in....should we get another a home tie that is.
But I agree Cheltenham away would not be a bad trip tho they need to play a last 16 game yet I think. I don't fancy oxford!! Mansfield, Luton?

Very good point had forgotten that. Cheltenham or Bradford are probably polar ends of the scale in terms of who id want to so would be a strange draw should we get either of those two.

I'd take Mansfield, Cheltenham (providing they beat Bradford) or Yeovil at home next round!

And you know what I reckon we'll have to open another stand!!

That's it... Bradford who they need to play in the last 16 tie. Our youthful cup side would be no match for Bradford.
That moves us on to is it key to retain Jordan Willis or buy/loan in decent un cup tied players if we hope to win the cup and hope stokes returns to full action.

I'm confused with this new set up

Are we in the Q.Finals / 2 games from Wembley or S.Finals/1 game from Wembley?

We will. It will be 10,000 + next time out I'm sure. Talk of Wembley and ticket stubs etc.

It will be way past 2-3 thousand.

Hopefully now only one u21/23 team is left in people might start looking to attend games and support there respective clubs. I don't believe it's just ccfc who are experiencing low attendances in this competition this year

Agreed. If the league are serious about this competition they need to scrap the barmy u23 idea and also get a decent long term sponsor on board.
