Maybe this can become a sticky.

Don't wish this to be a rip into Clive Eakin thread, but a Colemanballs type gentle poke for any commentator blunder.

Thing is
Thing is I do want it to be a rip as the man is an arrogant fool and a very poor, poor commentator who thinks it's his right censor the responses given via txt to CWR after the games, only the one's he does not agree with the man is a tosser.

AS for commentary a joke at least 5/6 mistakes per game

He even read out that he could not read my txt as it was not appropriate on the BBC and saying 'I don't censor people' . My comments had no swear words just called Jonathon Strange an arrogant pompous fool who represents no fans I know of.
Make of it what you will ......but does that mean he agrees with strange and sisu , as he hates criticism of our owners from any phone ins

Well, I have tried this at home and have to say I am pretty good. ;)

And on the blowing your own trumpet theme, a few years back CWR had a stand at the Godiva Festival and you could do the commentary for the 87 cup final and they recorded it for you.

I was told I was pretty much the best one.

Do expect mistakes, but not for Clive Eakin calling Bradford, Burton twice and then call them Sheff Utd.

I have never heard as many mistakes on other radio stations doing commentary.

Surely you must still have the recording?

A fiver to any charity of your choice if you upload it to YouTube. C'mon Otis, it's for charity mate. :)
Truth is and it is the truth, I don't know where it is.

Moved house 6 years ago and packed it in a box somewhere, but have never seen it since.

I can only hope mate, good or bad I'm sure it'd be good fun. :)
All I can remember is that I kept calling Tottenham, Tranmere, Glenn Hoddle, Chris Waddle and was adamant the final goal was a deft chip from Lloyd McGrath without any deflection.

As has already been said, Rob Gurney was the man when it came to commentating on the City games. I remember when Eakin first started and we had just been relegated from the Premier League he did an on-air segment listing reasons why being relegated wasn't actually so bad. His opening gambit, 'At least now if you turn the TV on a few minutes late when checking the full-time scores you might not have missed the City result as they go through the Premier League full times first.' First-class broadcasting.

I once played a match at Luton's ground, a Company vs Company event, and the organisers had set up a commentary box, so one of the guys I worked with decided he would do that for one half of the game. Must say, it was hilarious listening back to it, he was non stop with funny stuff. He could definitely make the City games more interesting...

PS
After the first 2 sliding tackles, I saw the mess the plastic pitch made on people's legs and decided to make sure I stayed on my feet for the game ;)

In the home game v Bolton, Clive came out with a bit of a stunner when he said,
'Bolton attacking on the left and the cross comes over and Slade heads it back to his keeper' ????

2 more tonight I heard on the sports hour at 6

1. Leamington are playing kettering tonight - Eakin kept calling them kings lynn even after he was corrected
2. He mentioned something that was on the morning show at 6 tomorrow, but said you couldnt listen to it as the sports hour was on at 6, I think he struggles with the 12 hour clock and that there are 2 6 o clocks in a day

Today Geoff Foster keeps calling Beavon and Thomas, Beavon, so we keep having him cross to himself.

Also, Bodak said when Willis came forwards and crossed straight away that he should have took his time.

5 mins later he said we need to be quicker getting the ball in

Didn't realise that for all of your posts that you only listened to the games on the radio.

Yes, that's true.

If only they let you take radios into the ground that would change everything. Then I could listen while I watch the game.

Alas, not to be.

Perhaps radios weren't invented when you last attended.
Are you plugged in at the game or somewhere else......just curious.

Watch the game with CWR tuned in on my earphones.

Started to do it once I started going up all by myself.

I get a full commentry too, and so does everyone else that's close by. It's from the bloke who sits behind me.
Every kick and every header, why it was offside, why it wasn't offside. How he would have played it himself, why we should have taken a short throw-in, why the short throw-in was the wrong decision. And yet he doesn't even know all the players names. I think he goes to Wasps games too!!
Going to have a word with him. And if that doesn't work I'll take my ear phones and plug in to CWR.:emoji_headphones:

Eakinsballs were almost spread accross the A449 last night hammering it home in the thick fog. Tailigating some bird at about 80mph and then booting it off after she'd eventually pulled over. TUT TUT. misuse of the company car Clive!

That actually made me laugh out loud.

She probably disagreed with him on the after match phone in.

Just now.

'Deep into injury time at Anfield and it's still Liverpool 1-2 Wolves.'

2 mins later. 'And it's now all over at Anfield and it did indeed finish 2-0 to Wolves, so that's yet another defeat for Wolves. '
