Think it's fair to say the appointment and speed of it surprised even shocked us all. Don't think for a minute it was a case of thank you and goodbye Mr Slade then a phone call saying hello Mr Robins fancy a job ! His sudden departure from the post in 2013 was just as much a surprise and shock. Amongst the reasons sited by MR at the time included not getting certain assurances by his bosses and lack of help from CCC, so what has changed ?
I never held anything against him jumping ship, was probably the only effective thing he could do against issues and more importantly Tim Fisher and Steve Waggott.
Fisher is still here recently. spouting cutting budgets and player sales, hardly encouragement for any new manager.
Issues with ccc affecting the club still there really but shifted from Council to primarily Wasps who won't talk due to JR2
Situation here potentially worse than 2013, probable relegation, imminent loss of training ground, loss of Acadamy cat 2, no home ground in less than 18 months, proposed further budget restraints, player sales maybe enforced and chief protagonist Tim Fisher still here and spouting.
So what has changed for MR to even consider a return ? What assurances has he had ? Does he know something we don't know ? Does he know Simon Jordan ? Yes there's more question than answers, at the moment.

I agree. Why return? Either he knows something is going to happen with new owners coming in or...? He has no love for the club although he could be a real favourite. I remember his walkout. I was annoyed he left because he was doing a good job. But I'm glad Robins is coming in. A glimmer of hope the owners are on the way out.

It may well be part of other changes including perhaps owners

No doubt wishful thinking will ensure that there will be a new wave of optimism that this signals that SISU might be selling. Lets not get carried away. Robins needs a job. The situation at Coventry is far worse than it was when he left. The problems still remain. If he comes here and revives us then the next worry will be whether the owners / Fisher will match his ambition. We all know the answer and we all know what that will mean. I would welcome Mark Robins and wish him well in his short time here .

With failures at Huddersfield and Scunthorpe on his CV he isn't a very attractive proposition to many clubs, especially as when you look at this last four clubs, he left three of them with win percentages of around 30% (over 92, 68 and 71 games). Yes, he left us with around 50% win percentage but that was only over 33 games. So, I would say that needing a job to pay the bills would be the reason, rather than being made any wild promises by Fisher or a takeover being on the horizon.

Still, good appointment, I would say. On paper it looks better than giving it to Ricketts and hoping that he cuts it.

Listen, he's not set the world alight in his past two roles but would you go back to a club after what he said about Sky Blue blood, the council, the state of the club etc?

I just don't think you'd come back after those statements purely 'to put bread on the table'.

It's not like he'd be incapable of getting a job elsewhere.

It's easy money for him. He's in a win win situation. When we get relegated it won't be his fault, if by a miracle we stay up he will be god. A guaranteed day out at Wembley.

As others have said he isn't a manager on the up anymore. He's been out of work for over a year. He couldn't cut it in the Championship and got sacked from a club in a L1 relegation fight.

I'm not looking into this anymore than he's out of work and Fisher needs a manager.

My theory, for what it's worth, is that potential new owners are lined up who insisted Slade went and it was they who instigated Robbins return, not SISU. As many have said, something is going on, otherwise I doubt MR would have agreed to come back.

I'm sure he has earned decent money across his career, but his playing days were before the big money came into the Premier League. I remember reading that Matt Le Tissier's biggest contract of his career was £3,500 basic wage. Good money for most, but I doubt Robins would have earned this, and he hasn't ever had a 'big' managerial job that would have earned him a fat contract. Failure at his last two clubs mean that League One clubs won't be putting him at the top of their wishlist and maybe he sees that by coming back here he has the chance to win a Cup right off the bat and boost his CV. He knows that we're already dead in the league, so he won't be blamed for taking us down and given the complete lack of success that we have had, if he brings us back up next season he'll be a hero. Plus, if he signs a three year contract and fails he'll probably get the boot after 1 year and get a nice big payout.

Let's look at it another way, why has Fisher re-appointed him. MF has a track record of sticking his fingers up to Fisher and consequently Joy Sepalla and sisu and pissing off and I'm certain would do the same again doesn't need to spout from the roof tops about how bad it is working for these owners and Fisher. Holds a lot of good cards does MR now imo.

Its irelavant who is the manager at the club. All any one can do is stabalise and fire fight, to build the club you need a complete change of current culture. This can only be achieved by regime change, if you destroy your infrastructure to get a better product i can kind of understand, we have done it to service debts to our owners. The club is eating itself from the inside out, I wish Robinson good luck but the club is counting on fan loyalty to keep trading at the minute whilst Fisherbtreats us all as muppets.

Sisu are not selling the club. Robins has no job. Slade was obviously useless with this squad. Robins is set to find out why Slade was so pants. So we go into div2 with a better chance of fighting back. Until Robins see next seasons budget, then also fails. See it coming.

Didn't sell players in January despite 3 offers for Stevenson, no need to sack Slade at this point, but anyway could have appointed Ricketts and saved money. It could not have been easy for Robins to accept after how he left. All this adds up to something more IMO

agreed dont see any other league 1 clubs or championship clubs like blackburn offering him a job when was available, im telling you if he keeps us up and goes on another run next season and gets a better offer hell be gone again its all about the money with robins!
