Well hopefully we'll get the chance to see if the fans come back when we have a change of ownership. But the minute there is no success on the pitch, the numbers will dwindle again, so I believe what Nick said is correct.
What were we averaging at home for the first half of the 2015-16 season when we were top at Christmas? I am guessing, but I reckon around 15-16K. THAT was under SISU's ownership, and with Mowbray as manager. City fans only seem to want to see success. (Note that L1 and L2 attendances fluctuate quite a bit depending on who you are playing, because of the away following from some seriously small clubs)
As for the 2.3K season average the year before, that was when we were at Northampton, which cannot be regarded as a normal situation.
Portsmouth have been the "biggest" club in L2 for a few seasons, and have been getting close on 20K all the time due to their ownership model. But it is only now that they are pushing for promotion - now that they have a new majority shareholder who is willing to invest.
I want #SISUOUT, but I don't think we'll see overnight success in terms of big crowds. That will come with results on the pitch.
I'll be there Saturday to cheer on MY CLUB, even though chances are we'll be down by 5 o'clock
