What was Glazepta? That may be correct, but our shirt sponsors over the years haven't been that great have they?
Peugeot (Talbot) and Subaru excepted.

Do you remember when Subaru backed us? If so you will recall that while Subaru adorned our shirts, the sponsorship deal was actually with a local Subaru car dealership.
All well and good, but that's not the case here: http://media.landrover.com/node/2724
As for how much the sponsorship of Land Rover to Wasps is, I don't know and neither do I care. But to claim that the football club is a better draw for sponsors than Wasps are at this moment in time is a tad naïve in my opinion.

Genuinely believe that they aren't paying significantly more to Wasps than we receive from A&A?Its all well and good having a big name sponsor on your shirt but there's not point if they are not actually paying that much.
I seem to remember the last england tour to Argentina was online only. There was a discussion about rugby on the radio the other day. Didn't pay it a huge amount of attention but a couple of points being made got my attention.
Apparently all is not well in the Premiership with a dispute looming between the players and the league over changes to the length of the season. The talk was there was serious potential for the players to walk out on strike.
The other point that was made was rugby not being as popular as some might thing. Seems there's an England international coming up that will only be streamed on their website as no broadcaster was prepared to show it.

So Land Rover aren't a global brand? They are a big global brand in your words, how much do you think they are paying Wasps?

Like I said, I don't know. But a quick google shows it as a multi-year sponsorship deal with branding rights throughout the stadium. It's not too much of a leap of faith to expect that to be more money going to Wasps from JLR than we receive off A&A.
Right this moment in time? Wasps. This isn't about shirt sponsors though, its about stadium sponsorship, do you think a company would pay more to sponsor a stadium used only by Wasps or a stadium used only by CCFC?

Cover a lot of their costs of PR and advertising I understand - if you compare the two outputs you can tellBut how much do Land Rover pay them for sponsorship?
Thing that pisses me off more than anything about shirt sponsorship is that fact that we have a two-bit estate agency that no-one outside Cov area has ever heard of, yet Hereford FC, who are a phoenix club following Hereford United being wound up, and just won the title in the 4th tier of non-league football (Southern League, Div 1 South & West), are sponsored by fuckin Jewsons, a well-known nationwide brand. Whose head office, I might add, is in Coventry!!!

Of course you're right, if we were in the Prem / Championship and it was us that owned the stadium then we'd have sponsors queuing to have their name up there in lights. But we aren't.
The Wasps Holdings accounts to June 2016 are on Companies House. It's quite difficult to ascertain the value of the shirt sponsorship deal, but I think it's less than £50k p/a. Land Rover doesn't even seem to see it as increasing their exposure, more general support for rugby union (including its 'local' teams).
In 1981 JH struck a deal with Peugeot that was if City made the final they would wear sponsored shirts
Those days they were not allowed on TV and Peugeot was prepared to pay the fine
Sadly we lost 2-0 and 4-3 on aggregate. Was in a coach loaded with cans of beer and not one was drunk on the way back!
What will happen to the Ricoh Pizza place on the Foleshill Road?

Strangely I was having a conversation in London today with someone who's not connected in any way to CCFC. But he knows someone high up at the Ricoh. Here's a few things he told me. It's probably bullshit but he'd have no reason to say any of it really as he has no previous knowledge of anything CCFC.
Ricoh haven't paid for the naming rights for two years. ACL and the council just let them roll with it as there was no one else etc.
There are spies in every camp regarding the takeover. Dirty tricks going on..
Sisu have zero interest in the club and are prepared to bury it along with all the debt.
Every player is for sale in the summer.
Everyone connected with the takeover obviously wants it as cheap as possible and are prepared to play hard ball and for the club to go non league if that's what it takes to get the deal they want.
And the strangest thing he mentioned was that the council are funding Robins wages.
Make of that what you will...

This doesn't help. It's speculation without foundation. You have absolutely nothing to back this up.True, but it had NEVER been called that beforehand. It was only because Ricoh were not giving backhanders to the International Olympic Committee to have their name used so they had to come up with something neutral and arbitrary
Most of us were glad to get out of the ground in one piece...
the council are funding Robins wages. .
Imaginative at least.good one
