HAHA! As great as Sunday was, it certainly was a true representation of life as a City fan.

When i was trying to "woo" her I took her to a few matches at HR and a few away too. The one I remember most was when we beat Man City 4-3 and she asked if all games were as good as this. I said yes obviously.

That mid-week 0-0 away at Rotherham told her otherwise.

Christ.

I took a lass to a 1-0 v Wimbledon at Selhurst Park (Thompson scored, we were awful, they were boycotting in advance of MK). Her now husband proposed at the Bernabau at HT in a game v Barcelona.

Can't imagine why she wasn't dazzled by my offering!

Fine. Just literally got back from Heartlands where i had to sign transplant consent forms plus they go through the risks and lots of cheery stats such as 10-15% that transplant will kill me or 5% chance it will give me another cancer. All nice stuff...

Being admitted next Wed 26th. Chemo for a few days then Day Zero - transplant day - is fourth of May so May the Fourth be with me.

Couldn't have picked a better day for it. The force is not something to be underestimated.

Best of luck, and let us know how you get on.

What's actually involved? How do they transplant it?

Through the line on my chest. The donor (whoever they are) give the stem cells on the same day so they are fresh and then they just give them to me. Apparently the cells know they are bone marrow cells and just wander off to my bone marrow and just settle in.

That's a lot better than I thought, I thought they would need to mess with bones.

Will that over ride your own ?

I don't really understand the stem cell thing but there was a thing on the news the other day that was very impressive. Chap had been paralysed from the neck down last March, couldn't even breath without assistance.

Within weeks he could move his arms and hands and 3 months he was able to do things for himself again.

No it's like a liquid as far as I know. I have chemo before the transplant which basically destroys all my bone marrow so the slate is clean if you like. The donors marrow then goes to my bones and the theory is it settles and eventually starts to produce healthy cells. My problem is my marrow produces unhealthy cells which causes my leukemia. If it works I'm cured.

On a more cheery note as my blood count has recovered quite well I am being allowed to go to the Walsall game on Saturday. Good news, eh?

I said good news, eh lads? Lads?

Godspeed to those clever little bone marrow cells. Hats off to all those scientists and technicians that have developed such amazing interventions. Do your stuff cells!
All the best Torch. Hope we win for you tomorrow

Hats off also to the donors. Very painful apparently. I give blood and they keep asking me to go on the bone marrow register but I've declined up to now. Id rather not be on it than them find a match and me bottle it as don't think I could forgive myself. Good luck torch.

Wife's just left me stranded here in Heartlands. First week in a shared ward as I'm having chemo from tomorrow. Then in my own room for transplant.

Free tele and decent wifi. As with all hospitals though it's bloody boiling.

Good luck Torch!! Hopefully this round of chemo isn't as hard on you as the last bout.

Apparently it is a lot milder. Just giving it to me as a precursor to the main event next Thursday or Day Zero as they call it. Transplant Day.

How long can you play the poorly card for now until your wife compares it to child birth and doesn't let you get away with stuff?
