As much as I don't trust the Tories I just cannot buy into what Labour are selling at the moment. They are trying to hard to be all things to everyone (on the street) and have no substance behind it. Big push on bringing power back to unions which is worrying given that most of our industries are no longer Primary sector and more service based so this would push more companies out of the country if there are threats of strikes, collective pay consultations etc (there needs to be a balance of course), Living wage to £10ph is a little unrealistic however I would anticipate that this would be over the 4 years rather than immediately. NHS and police officers I don't disagree with but question affordability...

On the other hand, Tories really not spouting anything of significance either but I do feel that we need to secure businesses within the UK post Brexit rather than make wholesale changes which could drive them away.

In terms of publicity, Labour clearly going for hearts until the latest gaff but I am getting sick of the constant sniping at each party rather than focusing on the actual issues.

On another note, Tories surely could have come up with some good 'May' puns for today being the 4th May!!

OK we can't afford to properly fund schools, police and hospitals. Why don't we sell all of it off, collect taxes anyway and have the national debt paid off in 2 years? Why is Mrs May given a free ride on all this?

I think most people don't look at the local issues, they just gobble up whatever they see on the 6 or 10 pm news, which inevitably is whichever leader or (shadow)minister fucks up the most or can invent the more obscure buzz words.

Show me where he has supported the murder of British citizens, you won't find it. In return I will show you our esteemed Prime Minister defending a country which exports extremist Islam around the globe.

Who cares that our schools are under-funded to the point where we have classes of over 30 kids and where we don't have anywhere near enough teachers? Who cares that our health service is losing doctors by the thousands and that patients lie in beds in the corridor? Who cares that police forces pick and choose which crimes to investigate for lack of resources? Who cares that the government's making Brexit up as it goes along? Who cares that Saint Theresa mindlessly repeats phrases issued by focus groups?

Perhaps the' working classes' are more cleaver that you think they are (offer the plebs an extra day off and an extra fiver in the pay packet and they will be happy) they can see through it, and they are having their say. We need a strong Labour party in this country, a party that has the best interests of the working man at it's heart, but I'm afraid this version has lost the people it was set up to defend, and I think you will see just how much they have lost the people on the 8th of June.

The Labour Party continually refer to the "working class" and the "low-income families" but people are clearly non-responsive to it. Take Nuneaton for example, a swing seat but is likely to be voting Tory yet again, whilst nothing in the town points to the fact that Tory policy would benefit the majority of residents. That, coupled with continual scaremongering over immigration for over a decade now, and people don't want to touch Labour with a shitty stick.

When I moved to Scotland Labour was in charge of more or less everything. When I left, it had 1 MP and was on its way to being the 3rd party of Scottish politics. That happened because over time the party forgot its base and took it for granted, shared platforms with the Tories and started abstaining on major votes. People saw a choice between Tory and Tory-lite, and went for the SNP. Now you have a leader who has a history of voting based on what he thinks is right, who holds positions that have popular support (take the polls' word, not mine), and the media calls him a terrorist loving commie.

Sorry, you and I both know we don't have anything like a balanced media in this country. On what planet does Theresa May speak with substance or honesty? 'Brexit means Brexit', repeating 'strong and stable' ad nauseam, deflecting and misleading about the state of education and healthcare. I'm not saying Jezza is the perfect candidate, the ideas matter more to me than the individual. All I see is a set of policies that are geared towards restoring public services and tackling inequality, and another geared towards the opposite, with the latter scooping up more votes. People voted against their own self interest 2 years ago and they will do it again.

This is what I referred to earlier in the thread. Corbyn takes his lead from the public sector unions. They're basically a protest movement, where opposition isn't a means to an end but the end in itself.

Getting power out of their control will be a long hard process.

Go back to basics - research what each party stands for, & perhaps how they have historically gone about trying to achieve stuff...go with that when you put your 'X'
