As much as I don't trust the Tories I just cannot buy into what Labour are selling at the moment. They are trying to hard to be all things to everyone (on the street) and have no substance behind it. Big push on bringing power back to unions which is worrying given that most of our industries are no longer Primary sector and more service based so this would push more companies out of the country if there are threats of strikes, collective pay consultations etc (there needs to be a balance of course), Living wage to £10ph is a little unrealistic however I would anticipate that this would be over the 4 years rather than immediately. NHS and police officers I don't disagree with but question affordability...

On the other hand, Tories really not spouting anything of significance either but I do feel that we need to secure businesses within the UK post Brexit rather than make wholesale changes which could drive them away.

In terms of publicity, Labour clearly going for hearts until the latest gaff but I am getting sick of the constant sniping at each party rather than focusing on the actual issues.

On another note, Tories surely could have come up with some good 'May' puns for today being the 4th May!!

OK we can't afford to properly fund schools, police and hospitals. Why don't we sell all of it off, collect taxes anyway and have the national debt paid off in 2 years? Why is Mrs May given a free ride on all this?

Never have I known a bunch of Labour councillors Coventry having the misfortune to be representated by.

If this is not a call for the grass roots to replace the ones left then Labour is doomed. Their election. Their failure.

Local Democracy at its finest.

The curse of Ann Lucas strikes again.

Will you be there cheering as the next shipment of weapons makes its way to Saudi Arabia, or like others in Mrs May's fan club will you be turning a blind eye to our support of a terror state?

In the big bad world we live in thats life. As far as I can see she has never openly applauded death and destruction has she? We know that Mr Corbyn and Mr McDonnell most certainly have

I think most people don't look at the local issues, they just gobble up whatever they see on the 6 or 10 pm news, which inevitably is whichever leader or (shadow)minister fucks up the most or can invent the more obscure buzz words.

She is on record defending the regime's actions in Yemen and continues to arm them in knowledge of what they're getting up to. Say what you like about Corbyn, he has never supplied weapons to criminals like the Saudis who are one of the main spreaders of Wahabism and Islamic extremism in the world. Your hypocrisy on this is pathetic.

I accept your point but...

The same Corbyn who voted against every single eu treaty all his career and then when got to be labour leader backed remain? That one?

The same Corbyn who is hand in glove with McDonell who are very pally and chums with the IRA very openly. That one?

It's a zero sum game that one in my opinion.

It seems to me that you will give Mrs May a free pass on arming a terror state while you will hammer Corbyn based on bogus claims that he supports the IRA. Show me where he has supported the murder of British citizens, you won't find it. In return I will show you our esteemed Prime Minister defending a country which exports extremist Islam around the globe.

But who cares, right? Who cares that the Tories have missed their deficit and immigration targets by miles? Who cares that our schools are under-funded to the point where we have classes of over 30 kids and where we don't have anywhere near enough teachers? Who cares that our health service is losing doctors by the thousands and that patients lie in beds in the corridor? Who cares that police forces pick and choose which crimes to investigate for lack of resources? Who cares that the government's making Brexit up as it goes along? Who cares that Saint Theresa mindlessly repeats phrases issued by focus groups?

Murdoch said that Corbyn's a terrorist loving commie, and the public has been convinced to vote against the policies it prefers.

Oh dear oh dear. The Labour wankers running Coventry council have now sold the city into a Tory West Midlands mayor. Pathetic.

Corbyn sat on the editorial of Labour Beiefing - an extremist rag that openly applauded the Brighton bombing of Tory MP's. What was the death of 4 Tories - a start apparantly.

The puppet master Mcdonnel said he wished he'd killed Margeret Thatcher himself.

There are numerous articles and journals that show their association with the terrorist movement. Read them and learn.

This is unquestionably true but I do wonder what makes people think the Conservatives a better prospect. They have never cared about anywhere outwith the Home Counties, and never will.

Labour have become so far removed, so toxic, to the point that people would rather vote for a party that hates them, a party that has nothing to say for them, but somehow is the better option (the Tories) Labour has become a nothing party, a shell of it's former self and when you have a leader of the Labour party that forces through a socialist agenda that disregards the working classes opinion, doesn't even listen to them, they will get found out, and they have.

Except the agenda is more popular when polled with the absence of which party it belongs to. That has been shown multiple times. Are you actually telling me that working class people don't want a higher minimum wage and more bank holidays? Social democratic policies, which is what they are, benefit the working classes the most. Convincing them that the man more out to help them is a commie terrorist lover, while the party of electoral fraudsters and Old Etonians is on their side, is the media's greatest achievement.

Let's just hope these people have no need for a school or hospital at some point in the future.

Did I 'actually' tell you working class people don't want a higher minimum wage and more bank holidays? no I 'actually' didn't. As a Labour voter all my life, coming from a family that has voted Labour before I was born, why am I so disenfranchised?

Perhaps the' working classes' are more cleaver that you think they are (offer the plebs an extra day off and an extra fiver in the pay packet and they will be happy) they can see through it, and they are having their say. We need a strong Labour party in this country, a party that has the best interests of the working man at it's heart, but I'm afraid this version has lost the people it was set up to defend, and I think you will see just how much they have lost the people on the 8th of June.

No you're right, how silly of me. When they offer positions that would help people, it's a ruse. When they offer positions that wouldn't, they don't understand the electorate.

Yet when the Tories offer and do things that quite clearly work against the working classes and favour the rich, they're on the side of the working man. I give up, you're welcome to them. Tell me, because I clearly don't have a clue, what policies do you want Labour to put forward? Should they pledge to cut funding even further? When Mrs May does it it's fantastic.

I've tried to stay out of this, but I'm not sure I can. One key ingredient is that people refuse to see themselves as "working class" or "low-income" as there is a stigma attached to these terms - wrongfully in my opinion may I add.

The Labour Party continually refer to the "working class" and the "low-income families" but people are clearly non-responsive to it. Take Nuneaton for example, a swing seat but is likely to be voting Tory yet again, whilst nothing in the town points to the fact that Tory policy would benefit the majority of residents. That, coupled with continual scaremongering over immigration for over a decade now, and people don't want to touch Labour with a shitty stick.

Point me to any post I have made loving the Tories, May or her Government? If you are not prepared to admit that this current Labour party is in any way to blame for the voter shift, you are at best, deluded. As far as policies go, I would just like to hear something meaningful, be honest, I wish Jezza would just come out and admit " Iv'e always hated the EU, I instructed my party to not even make a noise during the referendum, and I got what I have always wanted"

When I moved to Scotland Labour was in charge of more or less everything. When I left, it had 1 MP and was on its way to being the 3rd party of Scottish politics. That happened because over time the party forgot its base and took it for granted, shared platforms with the Tories and started abstaining on major votes. People saw a choice between Tory and Tory-lite, and went for the SNP. Now you have a leader who has a history of voting based on what he thinks is right, who holds positions that have popular support (take the polls' word, not mine), and the media calls him a terrorist loving commie.

Sorry, you and I both know we don't have anything like a balanced media in this country. On what planet does Theresa May speak with substance or honesty? 'Brexit means Brexit', repeating 'strong and stable' ad nauseam, deflecting and misleading about the state of education and healthcare. I'm not saying Jezza is the perfect candidate, the ideas matter more to me than the individual. All I see is a set of policies that are geared towards restoring public services and tackling inequality, and another geared towards the opposite, with the latter scooping up more votes. People voted against their own self interest 2 years ago and they will do it again.

This is what I referred to earlier in the thread. Corbyn takes his lead from the public sector unions. They're basically a protest movement, where opposition isn't a means to an end but the end in itself.

Guys, I have shared this before but it is worth sharing it again. Well worth an hour of your time to understand the mindset of most Labour councillors/MPs.

Getting power out of their control will be a long hard process.

IMO forget the interviews, new reports & everything else.
Go back to basics - research what each party stands for, & perhaps how they have historically gone about trying to achieve stuff...go with that when you put your 'X'

There isn't much to choose between them all.

Obviously if you say anything negative against labour or JC then you must be Tory. It's the equivalent of saying something positive about ccfc, you get branded a sisu lover

Well if you criticise Mrs May you're a 'saboteur'. Maybe treat her and her party with the same scepticism you show the opposition.
