I hope that getting early signings in (that look to be decent quality), will push a few of the out of contract lads to sign their new contracts with us.

Was just thinking that, and it puts a bit of pressure on them if they see Robins isn't pissing about.

Only be happy if he's as good as Shaun Miller

ah yes......

Miller will be a very good addition pacey good movement and can score goals when fed the right opportunities.

Sheffield United fans on Facebook seem to think highly of Miller tbh

1 year is not a problem, but it could potentially be if Miller bangs in say 15 goals by Jan, he could talk to anyone after that period...

well we are in a different league now so approach will be different and targets maybe more attainable.

but i agree robins getting his man which is a good thing.

mowbray reached for stars and didnt get his targets. lef tus with a mid table team that venus and slade managed to get relegated

whos this Lincoln lad btw?

It's like a disease!!

Looks a good bit of business. Career stats point to a 1 in 3 man.
I'll jinx him and say 15 league goals easily from him next year.

If Beavon stays will the budget stretch enough for us to bring in another striker? Can the three we have get enough goals to see us promoted?

1 in 15 games for Bradford last season on loan, was he injured or he just wasn't played?

Edit: he was recalled by Sheffield in Jan.

I think if it does, we are going to need some height. a potential of

-----------------Beavon-------McNulty-----------------
Jones-------Bigi-------------------Doyle----Thomas

isn't the tallest in the world

We must have offered him something decent since only last week (11.5.17) he was saying how he was going to wait til his Mrs had their little nipper before deciding, and it had to be right for all 3 of them;

Marc McNulty craving regular football after Sheff Utd release

Seems very grounded. Does speak well of his time at Pompey, not so much at Bradford

personally I'd let Beavon go. I like him but as you say we need some variety, particularly height.
I think Thomas can give us what Beavon does if played centrally. Free up his wage.

I get the feeling Robins expects Beavon to go. He's got the release clause in his contract but I am not sure if he's what Robins wants necessarily. I like him having said that, the superb workrate is great against L2 defenders who tend to make more mistakes.

Nice to see business being done early, shows the potential signings and agents around us our intent for the season

I couldn't disagree more, beavon was my favourite player this year!

I like him, it's just getting the side/squad balanced. It may be that Thomas won't stay!

Hmmm. Will trust Robins judgement but strikes me that he didn't exactly set the world alight at this level, looks more 10-15 than 20-25 a season. Still proof of the pudding is in the eating, we will see how he does. Right age and experience though which is promising.

10-15 is a lot better than we have had past seadon

If he kept up the rate the was scoring at with Portsmouth he would have got 17 goals over a full league season. Portsmouths top scorer this season got 13 and Plymouths got 14, what we ideally need is goals from more than just one key player...

Both experienced players for the league rather than Kwame Thomas.

In terms of strikers now we have:

McNulty
Beavon (if he stays)
K Thomas
G Thomas (sort of striker)

Big target man for McNulty to play off and looking decent in that department already!

Yeah, there aren't many literal 20 goal a season strikers, when it comes to league games anyway.

To add the obligatory negative CCFC spin however ;) maybe the speed to sign is because budget is freed up once Thomas makes up his mind to sod off.

Could be a good signing for league two. He had a loan spell at Portsmouth a couple of seasons ago and did OK ish. We'll see.
