Don't be a twat all your life just because somebody has a different view.

Nobhead.

Name a country that doesn't offer a privare education alternative in Western Europe.

Your whole socialist dogma is childish and pathetic.

Anyway name one

I didn't say get rid of private schools. Personally I wouldn't. I wouldn't deny people their right to get their children a private education though I would remove their VAT exception and charitable status.

so it's only state education that should feel the pinch? In it together eh?

Abolish private schools. Lol where will the labour MPs send their kids.

Oh and where is the extra £7 billion a year coming from to fund draconian class envy.

The days of those earning 6 figures plus sneering at the less well off will have to come to an end eventually. You can only repress people for so long until genuine anger boils over.

Seems to be boiling over tonight in London, I just read that May said that they will retry to rehouse people near by but some may want to move to other parts of London, wouldn't that be just fancy if they moved out of Kensington & Chelsea

Mays performance in this crises has been similar to George Bush in the New Orleans flood to be fair.

Hardly any private schools in Finland. Must be a coincidence that they consistently rank as the best in Europe for student performance.

i think if i had free reisgn i would be ultra strict for a decade until my rules became second nature to citizens

would bring back morals, politeness and compassion for everyone

would take punishments and pissing lazy people off but eventually would work.
Just bring back national service! That'd work.

In fact, add that to my manifesto!

Does psychological issues count as an illness however, because I'm pretty sure nobody *wants* to be bed-ridden and 40 stone.
I watched this morning yesterday and some American woman was "funnel fed" (I shit you not), 10,000 calories A DAY as her dream was to get into the guiness book of records as the fattest woman on earth!

You don't need 6 figures. Plenty of everyday Joe's have their kids at private schools.

I know of a copper, DPD driver and mechanic who do.

Let's just hope that this country never has to borrow money and is happy with a lifetime of inter-squad football tournaments. ;)

I am totally and utterly opposed to the death penalty, but would like to see it brought back just for Sisu.

Abolish the royal family and send an inheritance tax bill to the duke of Westminster the four billion he should have paid would be quite handy towards paying the normal people what they deserve, I would also ban any local government officer or government employee earning more than the prime minister

Correct.

And Labour's definition of 'rich' being those who earn £80k is a joke.

...Unless of course you also define families who pay for private health care and private education as 'rich'.

I think you can tell that class snobbery for some is more important than improving education for the majority.

absolute nonsense as usual. I'm not rich but I'm not poor and I'm am quite prepared to pay more to help those less well off.
It's called empathy.

As are those earning £80k pa plus.

It's called higher and additional rate income tax.

If a parent can afford to send their kids to a private school, fair play to them. It's their money, it's their choice.

But if said parents or said private school gets any kind of leg up from the taxpayer, that's wrong. Private schools can bascially charge what they like, never mind charity status etc, there will always be some mug rich enough to pay for it.

Given the generally abysmal standards of teaching and discipline in state schools, I fail to see how any parent who is prepared to pay for their child to receive a vastly superior education can justifiably be labelled a mug. I'd say it's worth every penny.

Well perhaps if state education was properly funded then maybe it would perform better....

That or get some private schools to take poor kids into their roll for free. Show the state schools how to do it....

On a separate note there is virtually no governmental scrutiny of private education whatsoever... so if it is so vastly superior it would suggest that monitoring teaching via OFSTED is nothing more than a box ticking exercise.

Ernie, I'm not saying private schools aren't offering a better standard, clearly they are, and if anyone is in a position to go down that route good luck to them.

You've only highlighed half the sentence and I appologise if the word "mug" caused offense, you've concluded I'm having a pop at anybody who sends their kids private. I'm not, but I accept that's obviously the way it came across and I was wrong to put it in that context.

Taking the whole of the sentence, I'm saying private schools can charge what they like and they don't need to get help from charities, or government subsidies (taxpayers money) there will always be someone out there who will pay whatever they charge (ie. if they doubled the fees, wealthy folk would still pay it because it's the accepted norm that it MUST be better).

Hope that clears my post up - next weeks hot topic will be Sainsbury's or Aldi - where do we all shop? :)
