I didn't think the bars were that busy except when the cast was on the Friday night. At most I queued 5 mins. But I do notice everyone just seems to walk straight to the middle of the bar and the sides are either empty or maybe 1 or 2 deep.
Regarding trouble no problems on the Friday or Sunday. But on the Saturday afternoon for a couple of hours when the urban acts was on in the tent. It was constant fights breaking out with groups of black lads fighting and getting their phones out to record the fights and charging around, no respect to children and families around saw a few people get knocked over caught up when they ran in mobs of 50-100. By 5-6pm it seemed to calm down, probably not a coincidence that was when the urban tent turned into the acoustic tent.
My only moan was that I thought the main stage sound seemed quieter than usual and sound didn't carry aswell. Especially if the act was more acoustic like lucy rose on saturday or that spraggen girl on the Sunday I struggled to hear them and was drowned out by people talking and sound from the other tents

The Darkness hail from the town in which I live, Justin Hawkins was a handy darts player
Who I played many times before they were famous, god awful band though.

Shouts for next year;
Fun Loving Criminals.
Primal Scream.
Portishead.
Fergal Sharkey.
Cap Sensible.
Faithless.

Obviously no idea of their availability though :emoji_relaxed:

Errmm, Fun Lovin Criminals played here last year. Don't think they will be back quite so quickly! ;)

How about Ray Davies? Or is he still too big?

I wouldn't mind seeing any of the following acts here next year (not sure if any have performed here previously):-

The Cranberries
Squeeze
The Kooks
Pulp
Supergrass

Would love to see Supergrass, but aren't they defunct?

I went to see them right at the beginning when Caught by the Fuzz was released, but Gaz Coombes was ill and it was cancelled.

I think Tillbrook and Difford would be a great choice.
You'd get all the Squeeze stuff anyway then.

Aren't Pulp maybe still too big?

Didn't realise they played there last year, living away from the area you see, were they any good,
I Went to see them in Norwich a few years ago and they were brilliant.
M People Space or the Cure would be about the right size as well, I would have thought.

Think Space did last year as well Bri.
As Ken Bruce would say "One year Oot".

Might be able to get Madness or T'Pau they're both still doing occasional gigs.

Rodger Hodgson could do all the Supertramp stuff, plenty of singalong songs there, also Johnny Marr is good live and does a surprisingly good job of vocals on the Smith's songs.

Doubt the budget would stretch to Madness. Which raises the question would people prefer to play and have higher profile acts? Not talking hundreds like Reading more something like Victorious in Portsmouth:

I liked Travis when they first came out, they were quite edgy, but then they became incredibly twee and I went right off them.

They would be a good call for the Godiva though.

Would love to see the Dandy Warhols. Does the female keyboard player still do the concerts topless?

I would like to see Muse have an absolutely terrible year and for their stock to plummet dramatically, before then rising again majestically right after headlining the Godiva Festival next July.

The Specials were asked the year they reformed; they wanted 3 times the total budget of the festival to play.

Really?

That's Lady Godiva (sort of) so it's Coventry themed!

Would love to see the Fratellis they are superb live. If they charged in line with the Portsmouth festival you wouldn't see half of the families going which would be a shame. Equally then you start looking at enhanced security to stop people getting in etc.

I would have no objection to a tenner for the weekend or something however but people complain about the cost now when it's friggin free so you will never win

Ha how do people complain that it's free?

Tenner for the weekend is nothing really.

Prediction for headline acts, Godiva 2018:
Fri - The Damned.
Sat - Showaddywaddy.
Sun - Howard Jones.
Showaddywaddy have done the Godiva before haven't they?

Apart from the Damned that line-up makes me want to go and top myself. :(

I am heavily crossing my fingers for New Order. So many hits, so many great memories.

Would also be very, very, very happy with these...

Seen them twice live and never had so much fun. Such energy and the whole audience just singing along.

Perfect for festivals.
