Don't know why so many people are getting their knickers in a twist about Thomas.

Just presume he isn't going to be here in a couple of weeks. If for some reason he is, then great, he has to fight for his place like the others.
It's annoying because as I said earlier, him pissing us about is meaning we can't replace him yet, money is tight as it is, we can't bring in a replacement because we've still got an offer on the table.

The sooner he makes a decision the better, we can then get on with it

I agree, our fans somehow struggle to recognise a quality player... Jacob Murphy being one, but George Thomas ran around a lot, he picked out the wrong passes regularly and missed easy chances, he did it against Peterborough... granted he scored one but could have had 3/4

He's in there same school as Jim O'Brien he ran around a lot but generally flattered to deceive

Comparing him to Jim O'Brien just further strengthens my point.

I couldn't give a rats ass if Thomas stays or goes. Like I've said before, none of our current crop are worth crying over when we used to have players like Keane, Dublin, McCallister etc

Talking about strikers, Michael Smith may be an option from Portsmouth? At 6 foot 4 he would be a presence in the box.

Him and Gary Roberts have been reportedly been enquired about by a few clubs and not featuring for Portsmouth too.

Smith was allowed to leave loan at Northampton the second half of the season after our January target Eion Doyle joined Pompey.

Scored goals for Swindon in the season they embarrassed us on Sky didn't he?

I'm using him as an example, two different players. All I'm saying is George Thomas ran around a lot but didn't do much. What did he bring to the team?

I think he'd do alright in this league, it's about his level. He's got this move off the back of a good 2 months.

So the delay has been CCFC negotiating with Swansea and now Leicester on a fee, rather than George not being able to make a decision? Well, colour me shocked.

That's twisting what it says slightly. It's still his decision to make, it's possible that he wants to go to Leicester but they won't commit until a fee has been agreed so they don't have to go to a tribunal and pay more than they want.

He decided Leicester weeks ago, just been waiting to get it sorted, so Robins knew he's off weeks ago. Let's be honest we all did.

That makes no sense at all

I'm saying that none of the players we have now could lace the boots of the 'glory days' players we used to have. So I'm not going to cry over mediocre players leaving.

What are you failing to understand?

We don't know if another club has offered him a contract. His agent will have told him one is coming. He is out of contract and is within his rights to see all the options open to him. We just want a rushed decision so we can get a replacement...

He's a young lad and this is a huge decision in his career, he's right to take his time. We'd all look after ourselves and our family if we were in the same position.

From a ccfc point of view, as much as I would like him to stay, he's definitely replaceable.

For the lads career, I think he'd be making a big mistake moving back to under 23 football just for a bit of money. Think he'll go backwards and he's likely to get lost amongst the myriad of more talented players. He may eventually make it at Premier league level but think he'd be better off proving himself at a lower level first.

How many of Leicester's current first team have graduated through their academy? (I genuinely don't know the answer)

Andy King who made 35 appearances last season and Ben Chilwell who made 20.

King has been there for years, came through into the first team when they were in League 1 and kept his place as they have gone up.

Agree with this
By all accounts he's a really good lad and we all saw him run himself into the ground last year
Of course he's not got the god given talent of some other youngsters but he has a great work ethic and plenty of players now and in the past play at the top level because they are their team's grafters
If he and his agent have any sense they will do a deal where he is loaned back either here or somewhere else he will get game time

To extend your logic it doesn't matter if we lose every game because we're not in the top flight

If he signs for Leicester they will probably loan him to a league one side or Scottish premier side. Loaning back here will stifle his development, that's life.

I'm still amazed 4 PL teams were interested in him. I like GT and would have loved him to stay another year but he's not got pace to burn like Wilson, a trick up his sleeve like Maddison or even height on his side. Will be interesting to see what level he gets loaned out at, how far work rate and a decent technique get him in the game and what his final position ends up being. Just wish he'd have stayed one more year and cemented his cult hero status - real shame for the kids to lose the guy that scored THAT goal just a couple of months later.

Granted, we are unlikely to have a Hadji, Keane, Dublin turning out for us in the near future.; however, if you keep selling any potential coming through (especially at an early stage), you are going to struggle to progress. I suspect had Murphy been our player, you may have said 2 seasons ago that you wouldn't be crying at us letting him go for 500k. 2 seasons later, it doesn't look such a good deal - players we are calling 'mediocre' now could be woth a goldmine - Ponticelli, for example. That's why sell on clauses are so vital to clubs in our current position.

Be nice to see some of the home grown players stay but what a way to sign off with the winner in wembley. Sounds like he's off wish him well but can't see him doing it in prem or championship to be honest but hope I'm proved wrong but don't think I will be

Thomas is out of contract, he could have signed for whoever he wanted weeks ago.
That's not how it works, at all. Because we offered him a contract, we are entitled to Compensation which would be decided by a tribunal.

Swansea and Leicester want George. They also both didn't want his signing to go to a tribunal, which can be unpredictable, so they decided to try and negotiate a transfer fee with CCFC. Swansea balked at the cost and left the table. Leicester are still interested and negotiating with CCFC - which is causing the hold-up.

He could sign the contract with whoever and whenever he wants, it would be down to the clubs to then either agree a compensation package or send it to a tribunal if it can't be agreed. CCFC aren't holding up the signing as we are powerless to stop it.

If the deal is agreed between Leicester and Thomas, then there is nothing CCFC can do to stop Leicester confirming the signing and Thomas signing the deal right now. Either the deal is not yet agreed or Leciester are holding the deal up as they don't want to risk it to go to a tribunal.
Likewise if Thomas preferred destination was Swansea, there would be nothing to club could do to stop it going through even if Leicester were offering a better compensation package.
