cash strapped club full stop. tm saw issues club had like loans and not long term contracts etc, he couldnt make the change quick enough, maybe some of its down to him, maybe some to owners.sisu have changed things up for robins. and thats a great thing

p.s dont worry this is retro for tony mowbray day, new era normal service resumed tomorrow

My gripe was he said the previous May the club needed its own players and not be reliant on loans.
He failed to identify suitable players to come in for what we could budget for and went with being heavily reliant on loans again. So no lessons were learned from when the kids ran out of steam, last years kids were not quite up to it.... the gamble of loans I suppose.

And with a limited budget he released the average Arron Martin and paid a fee for a like for like replacement encouraged a knackered Sam Ricketts to go again. Released a crock in Reda and chased another in kelvin phillips.

The summer was spent clutching at straws...

The team was not assembled correctly to go a campaign.

Nick has pretty much done my response for me.

You are making things up in your head and rightly getting a pasting on here. No one has ever said Slade was good, or really defended him. People merely point out that Mowbray is not blameless like some people make out, or as good as other people think.

As I said on another thread, I hope we smash Grimsby too. Slade is a clown, but with Mowbray it feels a bit more personal, I feel like he fucked up a promotion season drastically, and then did most of the work to get us relegated, whilst other fans such as yourself defended him and blamed it on everything any anyone else. He walked away and was a coward, and I for one hope he leaves the Ricoh tonight with a few things to think about.

there you go again

i am not saying mowbray is blameless,so lets jsut ignor your entire first paragraph

as for your second, i would personally like to beat a manager that took us from 1pt safety to 17 more than a manager who played great stuff and got us our best finish in 10 years

do you understand now? the fact you dont agree says alot about you.

So he has an injury prone centre half who will never make it through a season and everybody knows it, to then have a replacement of another injury prone centre half in Turner?

If you have a player you know full well won't make it through the season then you plan for it, whether that's replacements or a different gameplan for when that player is out.
And he would be able to have that quality of player, just waiting for Reda to fail , happily sitting on the bench, on the budget we have? Also, up to the point that Reda was injured, as I have mentioned he played almost every game for Mowbray. If you remember the injury that did for him wasn't a pull or a tear but the detachment of his Achilles from his foot if I remember correctly. Therefore not something down to Reda not preparing properly.

agree

he aimed high,it didnt work,he was NOT perfect.

i will say this one more time, he made mistakes, he messed up near end but he DID give us our best season in 10 years and signings like jones, lameries, turnbull, bigi, reid did help us win our first silverware in 30 years. he is a manager to remember more fondly than majority of others we had.

the end.
They also aided us in getting relegated too.

i somehow doubt ccfc was a well oiled machine that heloped him in recruitment. he may have been promised stuff that wasnt given or just given a shit budget

but on other hand maybe not, maybe he did just mess it up

but if venus could get team winning, robins could get team winning its proven that slade was reason we went down. so lets stop with this myth that tm led to our downfall.

100k for JJ seems a good bit of business. Thanks TM.

Fact is when TM arrived the club was an unidentified, scout free mess in a relegation battle. He saved us from relegation, rebranded Ryton so it had some identity, done some basic maintenance on Ryton so there was a sense of pride in the place and then put together a team with what was left of what turned out to be a 8th place budget and finished 8th. A season is a marathon not a sprint and he finished un line with the budget despite having to spend some of it on things that quite frankly was shameful to let get in the state they were.

Closed season. Set his standards for recruitment to high? Undoubtedly given what the final budget ended up being. However did we actually miss out on anyone we couldn't afford or did we actually end up with the squad we could afford with a couple of bonus players such as Sordell? The latter I would think. We employed who we could afford it's as simple as that.

Then you go behind the scenes. When we were on a good run Waggot was at the helm. He goes, Anderson arrives, early season form goes out the window on day one. And I do mean day one. First game with Anderson in charge was Northampton in the cup. Fast forward to Robins arrival and all of a sudden he's rebuilding a scouting network that had apparently already been rebuilt by TM, who dismantled it and why? What else was being dismantled behind the scenes? We already know the budget went from 8th to lower bottom half (whatever that was supposed to mean). The club is like an iceberg. What we see on top is only a fraction of what lies beneath. And when we keep doing the same rebuilding project every 18months or so something is going on underneath.

Was the time right for TM to go? Absolutely yes. Were we dead and buried when he left? Absolutely not. That honor falls to Slade, the wasted transfer window and whoever took the decision to allow Venus to stay as caretaker so long and employed Slade.

Yes, you have players who can step in and do a job. It's called having a plan B.

Johnson hasn't ever played a full season has he? Everybody knew he was injury prone, so you plan taking that into consideration.

Thought that was the reason he put his trusted mate upstairs in MV?

Game of opinions is football...

I agree with everyone tho and it's impossible not too that Slade had his helping hand in our relegation, along with MV, TM and the players.

yeah so MV has tot ake blame for doing a poor job? or its solely Tm fault for hiring him?

if TW ended up being horrendus would we blame him or only MR?

i think its obvious there are more people with bias hate for tm than i have any bias love for him.

So what you're basically saying is that TM's legacy is a bang average season followed by leaving us bottom of the league with not much but some graffiti art on the Ryton walls.

If he is not blameless why are you sitting on here and wiping his arse for him when anyone makes a comment about his flaws? We might have only been one point from safety, but why the fuck were we down there in the first place? There was absolutely no excuse for it. If we had been mid table and got relegated you might have an argument, but we were already in really deep shit after a quarter of the season had passed.

I want to win all our games regardless of opponent, some I just want to win more, like tonight. You've mentioned several times that you want to rest players for the game. Is there any reason for this, maybe so Mowbray can win easier? It certainly looks that way!

The fact I don't agree with someone who is making ridiculous statements about a manager who took us from first in League 1 to bottom only to be defended by a bunch of fan girls like yourself just means I have an overall sense of perspective on where we were, and where we are now.

Good question... if you really want to go to a new level MV has a lot to answer for...
He's the one who recommended Slade wasn't he to the board?
Now if he's any business sense and football brains he'd of known if there was funds available in January to back a manager that clearly needs a target man. His whole managerial career and game plan depends on one.

So Slade, despite his poor negative tactics was not the right man to actively back given there is nothing to back him with and too much Would need changing that us fans may not see and appreciate, where a MR type manager would ask different things of current players and different approach to game plans.

To us mere fans we assume that MV could get him that target man and had targets in place given slades appointed so close to the window given that was his role before his spell as manager.

will be interested to see how he does at grimbsby this year

i would take a point right now if it was guaranteed saturday, an unbeaten league run would do wonders for confidence

Classic deflection tactics from covcity4life when backed into a hole dug by himself.

The fact is he fucked the budget last year, Jones has done well so far this season, but that it is one game, and he is one for the future anyway. Not what we should have been pinning our hopes on last season.

If we are going through TM's squad he got in for last season, why don't we discuss Reid, Turnbull, Gadzhev, Wright, Ageyi, Page, Ricketts, Tudgay etc?

and the "fact" is he gave us best finish in 10 years and signigns helped us win first trophy in 30 years. then had a questionable summer window and left us bottom of legaue 1 after 10 games.

that is the facts with no bias. you have lost. take it like a man.

I've lost? In that case so have 95% of the people on this thread. I think the fact that you are in the minority probably points the other way...

I don't remember you consistently saying Jones is a good player at all, in fact no one has until recently, due to his decision making and final ball (shot, cross, through ball) being better in one game, I hope it continues.
As regards to TM, you are a WUM and enjoy the attention for some reason?

Johnson did play in the first 12 games of 2015/16, correct, though I don't agree that him not playing was much to do with our downturn in form. He got injured on 17th October before our 4 match winning run that took us to the top of the table.

Johnson did not play that much under Mowbray the season before because he was crocked. Mowbray knew he was made of glass in the summer of 2015 yet failed to sign anybody else.

Johnson played in the last four or five games of Mowbray's first season (end of the 14/15 season).
During his two years at the club Johnson played in (as far as I can see) 32 league games. We had a record in those games of won 15 lost 6 drawn 11 giving a points total of 56, equalling 1.75 points a game. In the same two seasons we played 60 games without him winning 15 drawing 18 and losing 27. That's a points total of 63 at 1.05 points per game.
Over a 46 game season with Reda we could have got 81 points. Without him the figure is 48 points.
Now I know this is all statistics but to say that him not playing didn't play apart in the downturn is ignoring the facts.
The probability is that if Reda had stayed fit or even played a greater proportion of those games fit that season we would have at least reached the playoffs.

It's all well and good, but Johnson was known to be injury prine and not play many games at all.

It doesn't excuse not planning around that and is a bit of a strange argument you are trying to put up.
