Nick with his classic shit banter comeback. I'm aware they have been on sale for a while, I'm also aware this morning it said you could pay on the gate as it has all week. Leaving it until midday on a Friday to announce this is bullshit. I've tried Grimsby ticket office to no prevail. And your initial comment of them being on sale for a while, why would I drive to the BPA to purchase when it clearly stated you can pay st the gate?

Hardly shit banter is it? Something has clearly gone on with Grimsby, but with the smaller grounds if you have planned to go and made arrangements / accommodation etc I'd say going forward it will always be best to have a ticket in hand in advance than rely on POTG.

It is pretty shit from Grimsby and I'm sure there will be plenty of city fans in the home end.

Really average following considering what we are capable of.

So, on Wednesday we had sold 1100 tickets, this left 748 left.

Grimsby fc said away can pay on the gate.

Coventry city said I can pay on the gate.

Friday lunch time this has been reversed but silly old me, I should of took the day off work and gone and got 4 tickets. I'm actually leaving to go up in two and a half hours.

If they had said it's all ticket I would of purchased tickets but what's the point when all sources say it's POTG.

Not saying that's your fault, again just might be my OCD to have things ready.

You wouldn't need a day off work to buy tickets, if you have booked somewhere to stay and arrangements just order them online to make sure you have them in your hand.

Again, it is shit from Grimsby and hopefully you will be able to sort it. There was a guy on here selling a couple too!

Even if Grimsby hadn't done this today, what happened if you got all the way there and they sold out before you had a ticket on the gate and turned you away or there was a massive surge of sales today because of the new signing? Hopefully everybody will just order in advance now anyway to prevent this sort of things as a lot of smaller clubs might struggle to handle bigger followings.

I feel your pain as I even seen the tweet that was then deleted saying tickets on sale till 12, but I don't understand why you'd risk not getting tickets for something you'd planned to do, made travel arrangements, accommodation and personal plans to go to risk being turned away at the turnstiles like we've seen in the past.
A huge gamble to take

Have you tried ringing the ticket office to see if any will become available or if that is it and no more on sale? Apologies if you have just thought it might be worth a try, as seems really odd that they have stopped selling and no potg. Hope you get some.

got it in one - fucking Thatcher.
Come on CVD, she'd have at least ensured police levels would have been more than adequate to enable POG City fans enjoying a day out in N Lincs.
I was referring to the current regime and their ongoing slashing of public/essential services.
Going back to Thatch tho - If you can over look the decimation of indigenous industries, the privatisation of others, brief introduction of poll tax and the general dividing of a whole nation, she wasn't all that bad, eh?

I was travelling up anyway, missus and kids up there but couldn't get week off work so bringing them home Sunday. The caravan was booked before fixtures were released so thought as I'm up that way, may as well take in the game.

I could handle being turned away if we'd sold out, I'd be thinking fair play that's a top following.

My argument is there are still about 450 unsold tickets. Surely the old bill knew how many cov were allocated and had made provisions for all allocation to be sold. That's my gripe, I'm up there and there's empty seats in the away end. Madness!!!

Questions do need to be asked as to why we had a initial 1800 allocated in the first place if it's causing so much concern to the safety group who have obviously been instructed on police advice.

This should of been done before today. Can only say it's poor from Northumberland police

They're must be compromised....or have intelligence surely? All I can think of..

What on earth is happening to the game when a 'Safety advisory group' feel the need to consult with police over a fixture like this???
I'd be really interested to know the reasons behind the decision.

A safety advisory group is usually made up of several bodies including the police.

Is a bit strange, surely if it's intelligence for people kicking off for example, how do they know they haven't already got tickets or wont just turn up and kick off outside anyway?

My comment was a bit of a tribute to a lad I know who used to blame Thatcher for everything!!
By the way, add robbing my milk to your list.

If loads still travel and turn up they will let you in, not gonna risk a couple of hundred hanging around outside - stop worrying.

We had this with Walsall a few seasons back where we sold 2.5K and could easily have taken 4K like we had a season or two before.
On that occasion it appeared to be a substantial increase in the Policing bill was behind the rationale.

Nick, stop being a twat. Bennosdancingfeet and any others who had banked on paying on the gate have been shat on. Ridiculous decision from the powers that be at Grimsby.

I know they have, I only pointed out to get them in advance when booking the other plans to go with it and I think people won't bank on paying on the gate for a lot of games this season (away games anyway).

People plan around the information made available, it's pretty much an unprecedented decision from what I remember?

What if it had sold out today online or in the shop? It's just a bit of a gamble, that's all. Grimsby have still been twats.

Oh come on Nick people track the sales, they were never gonna sell near on 500 in a couple of days, a few hundred yes......hence why I also made what appeared to be a safe calculated call.

If people have made arrangements for travel, a place to stay etc why not just order the ticket online in advance and get it posted to the door so it's ready or sent up with the coach?

It's a genuine question asking why people wouldn't do that, I can understand if people don't know until that morning or if it is last minute but if everything is based upon it like people are saying why not just get it ordered when they go on sale and have them ready? Why bother tracking sales when you might have to rush to order online if they start selling out?

It's not being funny or anything, just asking.

NEWS: Coventry City express 'extreme disappointment' following change of Grimsby ticket arrangements

Following this morning’s decision to remove tickets off advance and on the day sale by Grimsby’s Safety Advisory Group, Coventry City Chief Executive Dave Boddy has written to his counterpart at Grimsby to express the club’s “extreme disappointment”.

Coventry City are disappointed that more of the Sky Blue Army will not be able to attend to support the team on Saturday, despite both Grimsby and Coventry City anticipating on the day sales, but unfortunately this is beyond our control.

Dave Boddy said: “I have written to the Chief Executive at Grimsby to express our extreme disappointment at this decision and the late notice of it.

“This has caused the Football Club and more importantly our supporters severe inconvenience.

“This letter is not directed at the club personally, but I have also asked Grimsby to forward our disappointment and concerns to their Safety Advisory Group, Police and local council, as we believe it is unacceptable to make such arrangements so late in the day.

“While I appreciate Sky Blues fans will be very keen to go to the game and support the team in our first away match of the season, I would ask that if you have not purchased a ticket in advance you do not travel to the game.”

Around 1,350 tickets have been sold to Sky Blues supporters for the match.

All it will do is give the police more work stopping CCFC fans going in their end or trying to.

I'm more of those panicking types that sits in the corner shaking if things aren't planned :)

I left it because I Live in Leicestershire....be it not that far I was on the M1 early tomorrow ready to pay on the day, I generally buy in advance but when I saw the new information yesterday I decided against......like many I assume.

Me personally it's something I'd not do, I remember seeing plenty of pissed off people at Crewe when we won 5-0 who were turned away having traveled on the hope of there still being 300/400 tickets available for pay on the gate.

Easier to have a ticket in your hand on the day but everyone's different and more relaxed about these sort of things.
