Gone to Man Utd from the Academy.

Fair play to him, is a Man Utd fan as well.

CCFC will get a fee apparently too.l

Not much you can really do in these situations when a club like that comes calling and the player is set on going. Good luck to the lad.

Not too sure how highly rated he was compared to the rest of his group, I'm sure there were other players of a similar age who look even better prospects who are still here. Perhaps @SlowerThanPlatt may know more.

United have been interested since April. They weren't lying about him only wanting to leave for MUFC - heard that he turned down Fulham & Celtic.

Coventry City can confirm we have agreed the transfer of Charlie McCann to Manchester United...

The 15-year old Academy product moves to the Old Trafford club having been with the Sky Blues since the age of seven.

Academy Manager Richard Stevens said: "When a big football club come knocking, and it is the club that Charlie supports, you must let him go and have that experience.

"We did not want to sell him, we did not need a fee for him even though there was a fee involved. He has been unbelievable for us, even making his England debut back in August.

"Charlie goes with complete support from me and the rest of the staff from the Academy."

From the CT comments section :emoji_zipper_mouth::

The keyword in this article is “SOLD”.

The Sisu Circus Way:

“SOLD” applies to exiting bright young players

“FREE”, “RELEASED” and “UNWANTED” applies to incoming crocks

… and they wonder why everyone is turning NOPM. Ha!

Thanks mate, hopefully we can hold on to these players a bit longer. At least till they have played in the first team.

Indeed.

This is few Ngandu clips player I mentioned.

Part of U18 squads when he was a U13. Played in most of 18s games this season, chance he'll get some involvement for the 23s this season too if he keeps it up

Could understand if he went to Chelsea or Manchester City but United have one of the best track records in England for involving youth
I agree completely, I meant why did he have 'no chance of ever playing in the first team'. We also have a very good record of bringing youth through into the first team.

Just to confirm to people, teams like Man Utd will take youngsters from far bigger teams than CCFC....

'Shows how far we've fallen'...

... erm, Man U would take academy players from us at any point in our past and future...

I remember when Man Utd signed Pique as a youngster, Barcelona fans said it showed how far they'd fallen, then they had a little siesta, and then said it again. Twice the anger in the same amount of time, that's productivity.

Fair play to the lad, just out of interest, when was the last time united brought through a youngster and he played in the first team for 5+ years? No one jumps to mind other then the likes of Beckham, Neville, Scholes.
