How do you remember it then????
The town itself was unmemorable, to the point where the only bit I actually remember is sitting in KwikFit waiting room reading the Daily Mail report of the previous night's game between Forest and Man U (1-1, if memory serves me right). That's how dreary the town must have been.

David Phillips and Stuart Pearce both playing for Forest that night.

I seem to remember reading that Kanchelskis scored for United....they played in their famous black away kit, I think.

if my memory serves me correctly, the crowd was 22,072. Could have been 22,073 - it was a long time ago.
If so that was crap, that was their first home game after they had just been promoted back to the PL as Div 1 champions, playing the double winners from the previous season with a host of internationals in their team!

correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't one of the reasons for the poor attendence that night because of the proposed redevelopment of the Trent End stand in readiness for Euro 96? Only a guess of course.

You're absolutely right and I was coming on here just now to correct myself. Current Forest capacity is about 30k, including the Trent End. But the old stand was knocked down in 1994, i.e. before the United game, so they only had three stands in action that night. Subtract the Trent End capacity of 7k from their current capacity with the new Trent End of 30k, you're left with the other three sides open that night containing 23k or so, so it looks like they had a near-capacity crowd that night.

Bet they'll show bloody Sutton Cup giant killing again ?
And they'll also mention that we won the Cup in 87. Sutton are still in the draw !

Good to see Dean Saunders knows his stuff, apparently Mark Chamberlain crossed the ball for Houchen and we were struggling in the league as well.....
