One of my fave albums by a band called Big Daddy. They do cover versions in 50s style from doowop to rock n roll. Brilliant really. Here are some examples:







Some of their other covers include Born in the USA, Whip It, Billie Jean, Once In A Lifetime, Eye of the Tiger.

Fantastically clever stuff.

I love Love. One of the first 60s bands I got into as a nipper. Orange Skies was the track that hooked me.

I really like that one too. There's just so many of their songs that are brilliant. I just watched the YouTube video of them at the 2003 Glastonbury festival:

Fairly well known member from Malvern
I discovered a great band recently. I think I was watching an episode of "Orange is the New Black", and a track came on in the background. I was mesmerised! I HAD to find out who and what it was. I researched the episode and it was a track called "Way Down We Go" by an Icelandic band called Kaleo. I found the whole album of theirs and purchased it. Unbelievable sound! They are a Blues/Rock - Folk/Rock band. If you like that style of music give this a listen (over 77million views!).................

As I've mentioned before I enjoy going in charity shops buying CDs etc.At the weekend got 4 CDs for £3.00. All in perfect nick too. Stereophonics : Just Enough Education To Perform. Meat Loaf : Welcome To The Neighbourhood. Ian Brown : The Greatest. And: Be Here Now by Oasis. Now that's what you call a bargain.

Excellent. Son tells me they were on Fifa 16 soundtrack...who knew. Just listened to few of their other songs on YouTube.

Apparently, (I've just done a bit more digging,) most of the tracks off the album (A - B) have been used on loads of different TV shows. Vampire Diaries, Grey's Anatomy, Longmire, The Flash, Supergirl plus loads more. Very popular!

Just heard (literally as I was typing that last post!) a track called "No Good", another track from that album. It was on the advert for the Renault Crossover range.

Thought I'd give Amy Winehouse a listen as her Back To Black was in the charity shop the other day. Not usually my sort of music, but what a great voice she had. Sad and tragic though.

Not my type of thing usually either B but I love listening to her, Back to black is a classic.

Caught 5 or 10 minutes of her live at a couple of festivals and just walked off as she was hammered and it was painful to watch, the people who allowed her to go on stage in that state need to take a good look at themselves. Would love to have seen her when she was at the height of her powers before the demons really kicked in.

Glad I bought it now as its a great album. But listening to it I thought to myself what a waste of talent, she could of gone on and been huge.
Then again I'm a big fan of Janis Joplin and she also had her demons. Still they both left behind great music.

I picked up in the shop another cracking CD. Robert Plant and The Strange Sensation : Mighty Rearranger.
Can't stop playing it every track is awesome. Just think I saw Led Zeppelin in 1970 at the Bath Festival and Plant is still going strong. What a legend !

Just gave Magic and loss by Lou Reed a spin for the first time in many years.
What a great album, albeit a bit heavy going in terms of subject matter.

Saw Lou Reed at Warwick University several years ago. It was a terrible concert and many drifted off well before the end. It was a mixture of weird music with some strange folk tunes.
The crowd were polite though as he was a legend. I wanted him to do some of his old stuff,but he was plugging a new album so he ignored us shouting out tracks ! Still a great musician though.

Ralph McTell. I saw him in concert at Birmingham Town Hall many years ago and he was absolutely brilliant. This album never gets old.

Presently listening to Dire Straits. I'm no fan of their commercial pop music but still like their first three albums.
Same with Coldplay - still love the first album, but dislike everything since.
